Where I went from here
Old story where to go from here. Went to hospital Asthma Nurse for Allergy testing. Allergic to cats (not got any), indigenous trees Oak, Beech, Birch (ironic moved to country for fresh air from city), Grass (the walk on kind), Housedust mites. She was very informative and spent sometime getting to know

Saline Nebs
Hi I have had asthma my whole life (well, since 6 months old). I am 44 and it doesn't get any better, but as you get older and wiser you do learn to manage it better. I avoid the things I know I am allergic to , and the other stuff that will set it off. As expected, I also have ezcema. The current

Symbicort SMART, histamine challenge test, ethanol free atrovent
Hi everyone, Several questions here. Just wondered if anyone has any positive or negative views to share about Symbicort SMART. I've just been switched from Seretide to Symbicort. I understand the principle, however I'm slightly paranoid about bone density at the moment (with good reason), and I'm

Hi everybody, My 13 year old daughter is currently on seretide inhaler, antihistamines and montelukast tabs. She is hardly in school at all as she constantly feels sick and has a sore head which paracetamol doesn't relieve. We have a doctors appointment in couple of days but was just wondering if anyone

Being referred back to hospital - any ideas on drug treatment?
Hi, I'm new to the forum. Had asthma ""officially"" for 6 years after a respiratory arrest (turns out that darned permanent cough actually hadn't been....oops). I have been told I have brittle asthma due to the very rapid deteriorations I have whilst being pretty well in between. Anyway, have been really

Blood Test and Doctors Appointments
I have painful arms and I am buising a lot more than I have ever done before. So I went to see the doctor on the 22nd July and he recommended that I had a blood test, so on the 29th July I had a full blood test to check my bloods were all ok. My bloods came back as normal. I have been having to use

New to all this
Hello, I've been a mild asthmatic for most of my adult life, nebulised once about five years ago when I lived with a heavy smoker (I don't live with him anymore). I'm a keen runner and I noticed once it got warm I was struggling with my breathing, went to my doctor and was given becotide. Three weeks

Hoarse and croaky voice
This probably isn't a new topic for this readership but it is for me! I am a relatively new asthma patient in that I had my first attack in May 2009 aged 61. Since then I have been on a number of treatments including Seretide, Symbicort and Formoterol/ciclesonide. Of these the best for controlling

Ventolin Evohaler
My current relief inhaler is a 200 actuation size evohaler but I seem to have used way more than 200 doses but it doesnt seem to be empty-does the fact that you are still getting a ""blast"" of propellant mean that you are also getting active ingredients or is it safer to assume that once you reach the

High dosages
After my latest asthma clinic visit, the ""new"" nurse expressed a bit of surprise (in a lovely lilting Irish brogue I might add) at my dosage -Seretide 250,2 inhalations twice a day-Ive been on this for about 15 months now and she has dropped this dosage to Seretide 125 despite the reason for my visit

Chest infection
Hi all, just got home from asthma nurse. Had a cold for 3 weeks with it going on my chest 10 days ago but because sputum wasn't green I didn't bother apart from increasing inhalers. Had a few asthma attacks and sleepless nights and was only left with shortness if breath, coughing and little wheeze. Well

Symbicort 400/12
I just wondered whether anyone else has been prescribed this and what their experience of it is. Also I have been told to take 2 puffs twice daily which seems a lot to me. Does anyone else take that amount? I'm a bit worried about changing even though I'm the one who asked to try something different

Not responding to Meds
I have been struggling to get my Asthma under control since being diagnosed back in January. My diagnosis only came about after being taken to hospital after having breating difficulties for a week. I was put on Prednisolone (30mg) at the hosipital and was on them for a few weeks. Since coming off them
