Antifungal and antidepressant drugs may help protect against COVID-19.
Investigators found that the antifungal itraconazole and the antidepressant fluoxetine each blocked the production of infectious
SARS
-CoV-2 virus in cell culture lab tests.

Neutralising Antibodies +
Anything above 0.8 is a positive for anti-
SARS
-CoV-2-S antibodies. I’m astounded to see my results are 2239.00U/mL. To Judy in particular, I have not done my husband’s test yet due to the additional time it mentions on the site for people on immunosuppressive medication.

Pleural effusion
CA125 went down after pleural effusion drainage? Mother is scheduled for PE thoracentesis next week. Is it possible that CA125 will go down after fluid drainage?

Good news about immunity
The Adaptive test involves laboratory-based next-generation sequencing to identify T cells that recognize
SARS
-CoV-2 antigens. The test is not intended for the diagnosis of active infection but is a complement to antibody tests used to confirm recent or previous infections.

Ultrasensitive blood test detects viral protein, confirms vaccine activates robust immune response.
The team found evidence of circulating protein subunits of
SARS
-CoV-2, followed by evidence of the body mounting its immune response and then clearing the viral protein to below the level of single-molecule detection. Results are published in Clinical Infectious Diseases.

First outpatient appointment with consultant
My husband had his first outpatient appointment after being discharged almost 5 weeks ago. The clinical team feel he needs a transplant sooner rather than later. His UKELD score is 60. Mixed emotions with part of me being terrified but part thinking this could be the answer to our prayers and the

Bug bite reaction
Anyone have an adverse reaction to bug bites since being on an anticoagulant. If you had a Covid vaccination did you also notice any adverse reactions to bug bites. I’m trying to understand why I’m reacting the way I am.

My Antibody Test Was Negative Despite Pfizer Vaccine. I Am Wondering If I Should Try Another One.
Sadly my test showed that I had formed no antibodies against
SARS
-CoV-2, so I am almost certain not to go. My hematologist says there is currently no recommendation in cases like mine to have a booster shot.

Induction tomorrow / c-section as back up
So, going in for an induction tomorrow at 40+4 and if no joy, booked in for a c-section. Happy to read about other people’s similar experiences. No complications with me as such, I am 40yo however and have been worried about baby being over due as there are more risks once baby is overdue. He’s ready

Vaccination and asthma flare up?
Hello, Has anyone had a flare up after the CoV 2
SARS
vaccination? I’m due the first one this week. I see that people in other areas of Health Unlocked, such as some of those with rheumatoid arthritis have had flare ups of their disease. Rare or not so rare?

Calling UK CLLers - Is government about to abandon support for protective monoclonal antibodies?
There is ample evidence now that many CLL patients don't respond well to vaccination against the
SARS
-COV2 virus. At least, a sizeable fraction don't develop measurable antibodies.

CTPA scan
Hello all, I had a Spirometry test in December last year, due to ongoing breathing difficulties/shortness of breath on exertion - the results were indicative of small to mid airways disease, but only mild and not strictly Asthma (I have been given Fostair Nexthaler to trial). I didn't try this initially

Coronavirus: How the common cold can boot out Covid
If rhinovirus and
Sars

Sars
-CoV-2 does not get a look in. And even when

Got my private Covid antibody test result
A positive result for my test for the spike protein of
SARS
-CoV-2 is over 0.8 U/ml. I have 16.4 U/ml. To put that in perspective past Covid patients who were asked to donate plasma had a result of over 62 U/ml.
