B vits pyridoxal-5-phosphate (vitamin B6)
What B vitamins do people take and what brands have pyridoxal-5-phosphate (vitamin B6) in? What else do people take other than potassium rich diet and B vitamins and what form do you take folic acid in? I've heard it should be folate as folic acid isn't very good? Thanks

Starting medication advice
Hello Long story short, i was diagnosed Hashimoto's 2020, told to wait for TSH to rise before medication. I've been trying to conceive for years so went back to the GP this year when i found out TSH should be below 2.5 for this, not 5. Most recent tests are: 22/02/24: TSH - 5.01 (0.35- 5.50) T4 -

Rheumy exam/USA major university medical system - disappointed
I have severe RA - much joint damage in hands & feet. Good results with Rinvoq. Yesterday, I visited rheumy for 6 mth visit. I have been suffering with swollen ankles & major chronic fatigue. Tried prednisone, B12 - no relief. Rheumy did no physical exam. I showed her my ankles, hands & feet. She

Carnivore Diet - Can't solidly recommend it
I have been on the Carnivore Diet for 3 months or so, as part of my quest to ameliorate as much of my Young Onset Parkinsons Disease symptoms as possible. I'll sum it up a bit for you. 1. The diet consists of animal products and ideally no plant products. I ate mostly beef, eggs and butter, but

Osteoporosis
I had PMR from 2016-2019. Took Alendronic Acic for about 6 weeks but stopped because it was affecting my throat. Had bone density scan around 2017 which showed some osteoporosis and some osteopenia (record has been lost due to GP/house move). I was offered an Infusion of AA which I had in 2017/2018.

Folate
I did a full bloods Medichecks test. They have emailed me saying: Unfortunately, they were unable to process your folate biomarker. The results the lab were able to process, will be uploaded once they have been reviewed by a member of the medical team for you. I’m a bit non-plussed as I stopped taking

GP call
Well quite a good discussion with my GP just now! Reiterated my symptoms of B12 deficiency, Folate deficiency, Hypothyroidism, vegetarian and having a gastric band 12 years ago a lightbulb came on! Oh so yes probably good idea for B12 injections! She said she will write to gastroenterologists (I thought

Buying Hydroxocobalamin in Spain
Hello, my GP did allow me a prescription (usually an annual one) but this time on 5 ampoules.. oh well. I'm off to Gran Canaria tomorrow, paddle boarding! I wonder if B12 can be bought OTC there? If I don't have enough B12, I become wobbly and fall of my board ;)

Folate test prep
I’ve been asked to retest my folate as this was rejected from my latest batch of blood tests, earlier this month. I’ve not had just folate tested before (only as part of a wider set of tests) please can you advise on any prep I need to do for just folate? Assuming I should stop Thorne Basic B

What to ask Endo?
Hi all Sorry this is quite long. I'm looking for some advice about next steps and what to ask my Endo when I see him next week. Background: I spoke to my GP in March 22 because I was exhausted and anxious and people I barely knew were commenting how awful I looked! She ordered a load of tests which

B12 or Menopause?
In Dec I was diagnosed with B12 deficiency <148 and low folate <2.2. I had 6 loading doses into the beginning of January plus a month of folic acid and felt better quite quickly. Since then I have felt worse again so I had another blood test last week. My b12 is now 559 which is normal and folate is

CKD 2/low WBC count
Recent labs indicate low wbc. Feeling dizzy, lightheaded, more fatigued than usual, headache, palpitations, more insomnia. BP has fallen to 100/60, p 50-60's. Have held bp med couple times for too low bp.Read that leukopenia and B-12 deficiency can contribute to Anemia. All other labs good. Still considered

Has Anyone Watched The Film?
Whilst looking online elsewhere at B12 issues I came across a film (American) which on further investigation was a dramatisation of Sally Pacholok’s book ‘It Could Be B12’. The film was simply called ‘Sally Pacholok’. It’s on YouTube. It wouldn’t have won any Oscars but it still does a good job of

How to improve your blood pressure
I have recently fallen in love. With capillaries. In his brilliant book, ‘The Secret Language of Cells’, Dr John Leif, physician and neuroscientist, dedicates a whole chapter to them, calling these tiny vessels, ‘brain centres’ of tissue development. With a yogic lens, this speaks to the body intelligence
