Hey rosael56 , when it was last checked a few years back and very deficient with level of 16, a high loading dose was prescribed. I mean is the loadimg dose atill prescribed?
Ah I see. As far as I know GPs still prescribe if necessary, although when mine was very low I was just advised to take high dose supplements (8000iu) daily to tackle it.
I’m happy to report that for me it actually worked! I followed its guidance for loading dose, then daily, and in 2-3 months I was exactly where I wanted to be.
Don’t forget about 100 mcgs of Vitamin K along with to avoid calcification of soft tissues vs the bones/teeth we want it to direct towards.
Thanks FallingInReverse for the higher loading doses they are a bit expensive as I'm unemployed, thats why I'm wondering if GPs still prescribe the loading dose? I know I'd have to fund the maintenance dose
I’m in the UK. Just been prescribed Hux D3 20,000 IU for the same problem, but the pharmacist told me it was cheaper to buy over the counter than the prescription. This obviously isn’t the case if you get free prescriptions, but it cost me £6.50 for an 8-week supply.
Not to disagree that GPs have a difficult job assessing the income level of patients in order to decide whether or not to prescribe. And there is no other way than this of getting such things if people cannot afford them.
But everyone in the UK outside England gets "free" prescriptions! So that doesn't constitute a basis for making a decision.
