How do you feel after pace and ablate?

Hi,Just putting my experience out there to see if anyone else feels the similar after pace and ablate.

I had this done in 2022 due to having WPW syndrome not long after I went into heart failure and AFib, EP has recently stated that going into heart failure was pacing induced due to having a two leads pacemaker.

I had a 3 lead crt pacemaker fitted October 24 and a cardio version dec 24.

EF has improved and not in heart failure and still out of AFib since the cardio version.

I still feel pounding heartbeats throughout the day, I get really cold even on warm days, I have no energy and my body aches, often get pains in my head which I put down to the pounding heartbeats, constantly tired, my heart feels like it's beating hard and it's worse when I get up from a sitting position, getting out of bed etc

Recently sent a report in to the pacemaker clinic thinking I'd gone back into AFib but there was no events recorded.

Just struggling and just thought I'd see how others feel in a similar situation.

I'm 54 and just not feeling like I should.

The symptoms you describe are typical of heart failure and unfortunately two lead pacemaker can result in ventricles going slightly out of sync and normal protocol is to only fit a CRT after heart failure.

Add WPW syndrome to the mix and hardly surprising that you feel so bad but there is hope that you may improve as people find they continue to improve 12 months following CRT. Have you had ablation of the AV node?

Hi, yes av node ablated, complete heart block hence the pacemaker. The extra electrical pathway that was causing WPW syndrome that needed to be ablated was very close to my AV node, it was high risk that the AV node would also be damaged during the procedure.

The AV node was ablated along with the extra pathway and a 2 lead pacemaker fitted all in one procedure back in 2022 which lead onto heart failure and long standing persistent AFib.

Had a crt pacemaker fitted Oct 24 and cardio version dec 24

Presently my EF has improved to mid 50s so not in heart failure anymore and not in AFib since the cardio version so all good from the cardiology side of things but I still get bad pounding in the chest, no energy on a daily basis often get out of breath still and legs ache, always cold specially hands and feet and my legs ache, thinking it's a circulation problem?

Not what you're looking for?
