respiratory failure ..chronic with prednisone

i have chronic respiratory failure. does anyone else have this problem?

Yes I have long term Type 1 ( or Type A) Respiratory failure- have lived with it for 8 years now.

how can you live? what meds do you take?

Medications don’t really come into it much except inhalers. I do also take Roflumilast which helps prevent bad infections.

It is the ambulatory oxygen which I have been prescribed for the last 8 years which helps to keep my oxygen levels at a good level to prevent deterioration of my vital organs! I eat well and exercise as I can, even from a seated position.

I am stubborn and stoical, determined to enjoy life as much as I am able to.

I had type two respiratory failure some time ago. I was in a coma on life support. Do you have a question?

I have had three episodes of respiratory failure (both type 1 and type 2) but always acute during hospitalisations. Not chronic like yourself.

I have type two RF and use a ventilator at night to help reduce the build up of Co2 in my blood. Can I help with anything? xx
