Good news

So I've been on a journey for over 2 years, been in af for most of that time, had a 2 lead pacemaker fitted in June 2022 after having pace n ablate not along after I was diagnosed with heart failure due to LVSD, suffered from the usual out of breath, fatigue, tiredness, irregular beats.I had my pacemaker upgraded to a 3 lead crt in Oct 24 and had a cardio version dec 24, I'm still in NSR and had a echo last weekend which showed my EF is now 55% so out of HF signed off by the heart failure nurse and the crt pacemaker is doing its job.

Happy days

great news, especially the reversal of HF, Nomis 21. I have a 2 lead pacemaker, and it helped me avoid major issues for 4 years. Now recovering from PF ablation a few months back, hoping to avoid HF. Good luck in your new health. 🤗

Great news. Long may it continue.

Was the upgrade to 3 lead CRT a big procedure or similar to original pacemaker insertion.

Quite similar, the removal of the 2 lead pm was a bit unpleasant bit of pushing and tugging but ok, they used the same two leads previously placed and added a third into the left ventrice

Thanks.

I have a single lead in my right ventricle, to prevent long pauses and bradycardia.

Happy days indeed.

At 81, the medication and care from Bristol Heart Institute are still doing

the business for me, but good to know that should I need to go for further treatment, the

omens are good.

Best regards

Im still advised to take my medication until I have a review with my EP in April then hoping I can reduce the bisoprolol and end the anti cogulant

Hi, great news. I'm a bit confused that you say you had pace and ablate a couple of years ago but 2 months ago had a cardio version ? I didn't know that CV was actually carried out for anyone who's had P&A. If so, why??

Yes had pace and ablate 2022 total heart block and pacemaker dependant but you can still go into AFib, heart rate stays steady due to pacing but can feel AFib in the atrium. Had cardio version last December and still in NSR

Hi again and thank you for clarifying. I thought I had a broad knowledge base about AF but I didn't realise that CVs were still done for AF after P&A ! My understanding previously was that the atria were simply left fibrillating the point of P&A being mainly to endure a steady rhythm from the ventricles. Great news that the CV is holding and fingers crossed it does for many more months/years yet.

Thanks Mike, I'm no expert, I have had to learn a lot over the last cpl of years, I felt the AFib but had a steady heart rhythm due to being paced, pacing clinic and every ecg taken at gps confirmed I was in permanent AFib not long after P&A and ended up taking anti cogulant meds. From my understanding the pacemaker corrects the signs of AFib from the atrium before sending signal to the ventricle, anyhow had the cardio version early December pacing physiologist was in attendance as I believe there is a small risk of the shock affecting the pacemaker settings if the pads are to close to the pm, first shock got me back to NSR and fingers crossed it stays that way.
