Assessment at the Royal Free, etc
At the start of this week my partner had his transplant assessment at the Royal Free. It was a really positive experience. Because we came from Bristol we stayed in the on-site hotel, which is great! There was a lot of waiting for tests and for the medics to be available. I couldn't stay on the unit

Covid -19, still a big risk for some - 2.
I posted this tread up some three months ago just as a warning to others who like me are immunosuppressed. At this time, there are estimated to be around 44% of organ transplanted people who still didn't produce any Covid antibodies. Some of you will remember Jenny who use to frequent this forum, Jenny

Organ Donation
Hi, I would like some advice / opinions if possible. I would like to enrol in the live kidney donation programme. My only concern is 'what if my brother needs it'. He was hospitalised with decompensated cirrhosis in 2019 and was given a 20% chance of survival. He miraculously recovered and is now compensated

How to approach GP for first time about diagnosis?
Hi, I first realised I might have lupus just before the pandemic broke, as such I have done nothing about it since but due to fatigue potentially affecting my employment I feel I need to do something. Over the past 15 years I have been to the doctor with a range of symptoms which include: hair loss

Hi. My husband is in a hospital with Liver failure and kidneys have also failed but been filtered. He has bad ascites and is struggling to breath, you can hear him struggling and his breathing is gurgly. They have tried to drain his ascites three times but he is haemorrhaging each time, so no drain

Who do you talk to?
Hey All, So my ranula turned into a plunging ranula (I think) but the GP has referred me for an expedited cancer check as the gland beneath is swollen too and he wants to make sure it's not cancer. I'm telling myself it's a plunging ranula for now as there is a tail and the gland hurts so all the symptoms

Helpless.
My brother is an alcoholic, his liver has been severely damaged as a result and we nearly lost him last year. He’s been told he’s not to drink any alcohol but after about 6-8 weeks after he came out of hospital he started drinking again. He lives in London and I live in South Wales, I’ve only seen him

Feeling a bit stressed
I’m in the stressful position of selling my house and buying a new house closer to my family. The end point will be worth it, but I’m in a difficult chain and I’m worried it’s going to fall through. The sale is the result of a long term relationship breakdown which makes it even more messy as my ex partner

Fatty liver reversed?
Hi all, I was diagnosed with fatty liver after a fibroscan with a 287 cap score and a 2.9 kpa. I then changed my diet (avoided carbs for lunch and dinner (salad, quorn chilli) and had porridge for breakfast and only sometimes had a treat at the weekend i. e a small pizza and a chocolate bar for example

Liver nurse appointment
Hello all. Anyone have an expirience how look 3month check with liver nurse? Is there any scans they are doing there? I am worried as I will not get any proper help and checks... Also is liver biopsy 100% accurate? I had ultrasound says cirrhosis? CT scan says no cirrhosis and I am very confused...

Ultrasound and repeat fibroscan
Hi All, just an update. I had my ultrasound on my liver and I have been told it was clear, as were my blood tests. I had already had a fibroscan a few weeks ago, after not drinking alcohol for 4 weeks, and it read 7.5kpa. I advised the consultant at this meeting that I had drank a lot of water and

I need the rest
You sound exactly like a mirror of myself. I agree, the augmentation and withdrawal are horrible. I take Gabapentin, 600 mg. about 7 p.m. and 900 mg. at 9 p.m. About 8:30 I take 100 mg. Tramadol. I am weaning off my last .5 mg. Ropinirole and usually take that at 7:15 p.m. I had about 1 week of beautiful
