First NZ study to diagnostically validate COVID-19 saliva testing
Scientists at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington have used real-world samples to confirm the 98.7 percent accuracy of a saliva test for COVID-19. This is the first, and currently the only, COVID-19 saliva test to be diagnostically validated in Aotearoa New Zealand. Associate Professor

Detached Retina and PMR
Hi, I'd like to ask if there's any connection between a detached retina and PMR or steroid treatment. I was diagnosed with Polymyalgia last year, am tapering down on steroids now but recently was diagnosed with a detached retina and had to have emergency surgery. I'd be grateful to find out if there's

Failed Right Wrist Ulna Resection Surgery,Fusion w/ Tendon transfer at 32
I'm new here and I would like to share about my severely eroded & fused right wrist. It took almost 8 years before I was diagnosed with R.A and it all started with a right wrist pain that got worse over the years. Finally got great health insurance and a great Orthopaedic surgeon that tried his best

Forgot to take my Flecainide - no adverse reaction
I usually take 200mgs/day Flecainide, the only drug I take. Yesterday for the 3rd time in 7 years I forgot to take one of x2 100gms. On the first occasion I was very worried and even cancelled an overseas business trip due to start the same day. The second time also very concerned, yesterday just uneasy

Wood shaving got into my eye
I was with someone who was using a drill last Sunday. I was wearing glasses but not goggles. A wood shaving entered my left eye from the drilling. My eye feels uncomfortable like there's something in it. However, I had it checked out and there is nothing in the eye. It is a corneal abrasion

Reassurance & information sought please prior to Pre op A/X
I have been advised to remove my soft contact lens that I wear in one eye for 2wks prior to my pre op A/X for progressive cataract surgery . I was advised by an eye professor that it only requires to be out for one week . The NHS are insisting on 2wks but wouldn’t have even informed me if I had nt mentioned

Dry mouth, dry eyes and dry skin
Has anyone noticed having dry eye, dry mouth and dry skin since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s? Just wondering as I never had this issue until my Parkinson’s diagnosis.

Newly diagnosed and looking for a very helpful post I would like to re-visit
I was checking through posts and answers to them a couple of weeks ago and found someone who had replied to another newbie on the site and so much of what this person said, made sense to me. I would like to revisit this post and perhaps take advantage of the offer of a chat given by the woman who wrote

Optic Neuritis Challenges
Optic Neuritis I had my first bout last year - which led to my diagnosis. It was on my optic chiasm so it affected both eyes, one much worse than the other.= After almost a year the one eye is at about 100% and the other comes and goes. I did notice last week that it had gotten worse again in the bad

Is this Lupus or an Epidermolysis bullosa acquisita (EBA) issue?
Not sure if this is from Lupus or Epidermolysis bullosa acquisita (EBA) either way it’s an autoimmune disease. This place came up next to a scar from a blister from a year or two ago. It is just below waist, just above right leg. This adds to other blisters on feet and hands that is going on.

Hello, I have been on this site for a year or so, but this is my first post. I get really bad reactions to bites and stings. I have lupus and RA. pink discharge after period
I Had my laparoscopy to diagnose endometriosis two months ago now. They lasered it all off as it was growing everywhere other than my ovaries and tubes. I also had a small cervical ectropion which they lasered off as well. my first period after my lap was surprisingly okay, a lot less painful than usual
