Progynova side effects?

Hey

Any other contact lense wearers have issues with their eyes whilst taking Progynova?? I am on x4 tablets a day and have had sensitivity to sunlight, mistiness, sore and watery eyes.. was trying to work out why I was suddenly having issues when I have recently moved to better lenses and thought I would check leaflet and was shocked to see it is a side effect.. I am only on day 5 :(

Will have to go and buy some glasses!

Also feeling very tired and foggy headed! Expected this part to be a breeze :/ x

Hi Trying6years. Oh dear! Are you sure it's due to the progynova and not infection or hay fever? Just a thought. If it is, then you will perhaps have to wear glasses while on it. Diane

Hi, not infection and never had hayfever but no other symptoms so I don't think so.. It started on second day of progynova, it is very odd! Never had issues with contacts before either, hence no new glasses in years oops. I read on one website it can cause 'Steepening of corneal curvature, which may make contact lenses uncomfortable.' Definately would not have expected that! Thanks

Hi. Ouch! I've not heard of it causing that, you poor thing. Seems like you wil have to get some glases, which is a nuisance. Depending on your need for specs, would a cheap pair of glasses from the pound shop or somewhee tide you over for a bit?? Just a thought. Diane

Hi. Have you spoken to your GP or an optician and see whether there is something you can put in your eyes to calm it down?? Diane

Hi, thanks Diane. Luckily it has calmed down, although I can’t wear my lenses for as long or put them in first thing. I have found reducing wear time, going to sleep earlier and using lense specific eye drops has helped me wear them for most of the day. And I’m off to get some glasses soon :) x

I had the same thing, but only wear glasses, not contacts. It was bearable for me because it wasn’t uncomfortable, just odd to have such watery eyes. It went away when I stopped the progynova.

Really, how odd. It doesn’t seem common to have eye issues with it as I couldn’t find much online, just been unlucky I guess x

It is odd, haha! My eyes would water particularly badly when I was trying to sleep and closed them for extended periods. It was something I could put up with, but yes, very strange.

The other side effects were terrible for me as well. I felt like I had been hit by a truck! I was so extremely exhausted. It got easier when I added in the Utrogestan. My specialist said it really wasn’t that common for someone to react that way to progynova, because it is an estrogen supplement, which is supposed to be a happy chemical. It’s progesterone that is supposed to make people tired - but that’s not how it worked for me!

The above happened to me both times I was taking progynova, and I was taking 4 tablets a day, so 8mg. A high dose because I went through premature menopause and don’t create my own estrogen. I am not using progynova on my next cycle.

Best of luck to you and I hope you are able to hang in there with the side effects! X

I have had the same when going to sleep! I am also on x4 a day, I feel like it is too much for me as lining looked good when on stims and hormones have been ok levels too. My consultant also said I should feel good on it, so I was suprised to feel so rubbish - I guess there is a reason why but we just have to get on with it in the hope it will be worth it - good luck to you too x
