Hello if you are interested in protecting your macular read the following link

brightfocus.org/macular/new...

It is very interesting, in order to protect your macular you should maybe take the following advice.

The National Eye Institute’s Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) found that the progression of AMD could be delayed or prevented by taking nutritional supplements with a specific high-dose formulation of antioxidants (vitamins C and E and betacarotene), zinc, and copper. A follow-up trial (AREDS2) was completed in May 2013. In that study researchers found that the addition of omega-3 fatty acids to the supplements did not improve the formula’s success. The antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin proved safer than beta-carotene, which increases the risk of lung cancer for smokers or ex-smokers.

Before you read on....regarding recommended supplements...

I just bought these NUTROF TOTAL it has all of the things listed in 1 tablet

however i have written beside those ingredients the mgs of each ingredient in the nutrof total. not exactly the same recommended amounts you could supplement with food anyway. its hard to find one pill that has it all as recommended for glaucoma. i have been taking multiple pills to get the right combination.

here is the link....

ttps://thea-pharmaceuticals.co.uk/...

The AREDS2 recommendation for the supplement formula is:

500 mg of vitamin C (180mg) nutrof total

400 IUs of vitamin E (30mg) nutrof total

10 mg of lutein yes this has 10mg nutrof

2 mg of zeaxanthin yes this has 2mg nutrof

80 mg of zinc (15mg) nutrof total

2 mg of copper (1000 or 1mg) nutrof total

also has omega in it not listed here however that is good for your immune system anyway apparantly.

I will try anything this is research I am therefore following their advice.

Hope this helps valfrance

Thank you for the link about AMD.

An interesting article . The diet seems like a very good, sensible Mediterranean one.

I was reminded of the Amsler grid , easy to do regularly at home to spot any potential problems.

Hi thanks for the reply, I think you should post that grid on the site for people to have a look. We cannot live in denial that our eyesight will not change because we take eye drops. Its good to keep a check on yourself I will have a go of this grid. thanks valfrance

The Amsler grid can just be downloaded , there is quite a bit of helpful information about what to look for and when to get advice. I had forgotten about it until I saw your article about AMD, so thank you once more.
