Strange Development
Good morning all, it's a lovely day on Englands south coast and the sun is shining. Getting to my question, I need advice please. Newly diagnosed in early May with PMR. Put on Pred 15mg all symptoms and pain disappeared the following day. Felt great and after 3 weeks tapered to 12.5mg. No issues. Further

Film - Fat Fiction - free on Amazon Prime
I couldn't find this posted on here before using the forum search facility. It's a great film that came out this year, all about low carb, reversing diabetes, and the origins of the lies we've been told about fat over the decades. It's full of doctors, professors, researchers, scientists and even nutritionists

Counting and Measuring
The dieticians love telling us to count this, measure that, eat certain portions of A, B and C, and drink X liters of water a day. The underlying assumption is this: your body is a useless, malfunctioning contraption that can't be trusted to feed itself. But this cannot possibly be true. If it were,

Cholesterol
Hi all I’m sure this has been asked before but as a newbie to LCHF I’m afraid I am going to ask. Will this plan not increase my cholesterol? Reason for q I have high cholesterol it is a family trait. After refusing for years at my last face to face with my dr I gave in and started taking statins. Mainly

I’m having a moan...
Hi all, I’ve been on Xolair since Jan/Feb and my asthma has been amazing! I literally got my life back and have been so happy (bar that of driving myself crazy shielding). On Friday evening and Saturday morning, I completely forgot to take 3 doses of antihistamines, 2 doses of Flutiform and a dose

Unsure about my thyroid
Hello, I am new to this group! My doctor has previously told me that I have a slightly underactive thyroid. This was about two years ago. She had me re-tested and told me that I was a bit borderline and didn't need medication. However it seems to be on my records that I have underactive thyroid, as a

Keto low carb diet
Hi all, Has anyone looked into the work of Ivor Cummings and the link between diabetes and heart disease? Suggests a low carb diet such as keto. Has anyone tried this type of diet and how have you found it? Stay safe Steve

Community first timer looking to join a weekly weigh in
Hello all, I'm 53 and always been a little on the heavy side. Over the last 2-3 years I've been on a downward trajectory, increasingly losing my ability to control my weight. I love long distance walking, but an ongoing back/hip problem (also for 2-3 years) has nixed that, contributing to my weight gain

Symptoms but high peak flow
Hiya, I'm still waiting to be diagnosed but due to Covid-19, I haven't been able to meet the asthma nurse again. They think I have allergy induced/seasonal asthma as my main triggers are aerosols, hay-fever and tomatoes (intolerant). They suggested I track my peak flow so they have good evidence when

off plan for 4 days, what is the best way to re start?
Have been over eating for 4 days, it was my Birthday on Wednesday. People had suggested ways to try and overt this, but I did my own thing and failed miserably. So restarting LCHF, with IF, should I try the Michael Moseley plan, Or just go for low carb start, eg., below 50g/day? Any suggestions please

Newbie looking for guidance on thyroid results :)
Hi all, First post! :) I got my thyroid test back from thriva today (overall a really good experience using their service so far). Most of the results have been interpreted by a doctor as normal/ optimal apart from my vitamin D and folate. I wanted to check if the numbers are considered ok by this

Technical issue/query regarding spirometry calculations
Right, so. Bear with me, as it’s a fairly long read, and I don’t know that anyone will have any thoughts or suggestions anyway. I am going to speak to the physiologists again, who are as desperate to understand this as I am, but thought it’s worth a punt posting here all the same to see if any of the

I was wearing a garmin to track steps and I was following a slimming world diet . Often skipping meals using low fat products by the evening I would often

Low Carb Diet
Hi , Since I’ve been counting calories for the last two months I’ve decided to cut down on carbs . The experts say you should have one handful of carbs on your plate but I’ve decided to have half a handful to reduce my calorie in take . I find this is sufficient and helps me lose a few pounds a week
