So I read somewhere after googling can cancer be detected on regular CMP panel because I had a CMP panel in October 2021 (normal) and then X-rays in January 2022 (also normal). I had a chest X-ray, lumbar spine X-ray because I fell in my house and feared a broken bone. All clear. Neither blood work or

A tip for Australians with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia trying to access pneumococcal vaccination through the National Immunisation Program
What a morning I've had to get my third pneumococcal vaccine. I'll share the details here as the solution I found could help others with CLL in Australia who are having difficulty accessing these vaccines through the National Immunisation Program (NIP). In Australia, since 1 July 2020, it's standard

? Any progress in the history of "War on Cancer"
When you take a break from reading research articles on Prostate Cancer..... I recently read two books that give a background look at cancer research, and the influence of government and big pharma. Some significant progress into some childhood malignancies and perhaps immunotherapy for lung Ca/Melanoma

Blood Clots in Urine
My dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate cancer in October. Gleason 4+3 and PSA 34. First Eligard shot in October. He just completed 30/44 rounds of radiation. Last night he had some major blood clotting in his urine. Blocking his flow. Today only a little bit. By this afternoon it had cleared up

High Dose Niacin (Nicotinic Acid) and Hashimoto's?
Update 01/22/2023: I just learned there is an increased risk of diabetes on niacin therapy: https://heart.bmj.com/content/102/3/198 This study was based on people taking Niacin for cardiovascular reasons, which I think would be dosed at 500 to 6000 mg a day: https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements

Completed 5 doses Lu177; complications of marrow damage and renal toxicity
Recently completed 5th course LU177; PSA initially 16, now at 0.08. However, Hgb dropped from 9.7 to 7.3 after last infusion, requiring 2 units RBS transfusion. Additionally, creatinine increased from 1.2 to 2.0, indicating significant renal toxicity. Will forego last LU177 infusion. For those

metastatic retrocrural lymph node
I had a PSMA scan on 12/14/2022 which identified a 4 mm reactive retrocrural lymph node. Then I had a CT scan on 2/1/2023 which identified the same lymph node as 2.3 cm. To me this is scary because it implies that volume doubles in 6 days and diameter doubles in 19 days. Even scarier is that nobody

Post-Salvage Radiation GI side effects?
I'm seeking insights on what others may have experienced after salvage radiation therapy when it comes to their gastrointestinal functions. By way of background, I had a robotic prostatectomy in 2011 and it failed. Last summer I had 35 salvage radiation sessions to the prostate bed only, ending on 27
