Insulin Resistance/ PCOS
Hello everyone. Wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom on Insulin Resistance with PCOS. I am on a fairly extreme diet - 800 cals a day, no carbs no sugar. This is quite an extreme change to the way I used to eat. And its hard. I was expecting to loose 2-3 pounds a week but I'm lucky if I get 1

How I Plan To Survive Prostate Cancer
When I didn't know anything about PCa I was rushed into an RP and when that failed a worthless SRT. When my PSA reached 1 after the SRT my URO said to find a Onco. On searching on Google The Cleveland Clinic ads kept displaying on how they were experts in treating PCa..So I went to the CC and saw the

Update since supplementing Vits for 3 weeks
As I wrote previously, I was on Metformin 1000mg for a "diagnosis" of Type 2 diabetes, which after advice on here, I found out that it was the culprit in malabsorption of B12 (mine was 199 and insufficient). With Drs agreement I stopped taking the Metformin and started supplementing B12, Selenium,Vit

New studies below. A bit odd, today, reading of how the lychee fruit has regularly killed malnourished Indian children [1], & that the fruit inhibit epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in PCa [2]. I had a post last month on: "Metformin & the Epithelial–Mesenchymal transition [EMT]" The PCa study

COPD v Diabetes T2
I have been having trouble clearing congestion from my chest using antibiotics and steroids to clear an infection. I've received a lot of help from the good people here and by doing a lot of huffing & puffing. I have also been a type 2 diabetic from many years keeping things in check solely by watching

Good news
I've had B12 deficiency caused by metformin taken for Type II diabetes. I saw the GP last Friday and I seem to be successfully reversing the diabetes so she is taking me off the metformin! I've got a B12 injection due this Friday which I want to take. I just wonder how long it will take without metformin

Blood test results
My GP called yesterday to 'talk' about my results. Wants me to reduce Pred 15mg daily to 10mg. I'm free of pain about 95% time but still have some fatigue. CRP levels ok and other bloods normal but GP wants to restart Metformin at 1 x 500mg daily, increasing to 3 x 500mg daily by 3rd week, a medication

Diabetes gone?
I have type 2 diabetes. I have been treating my high blood sugar with insulin for the past six months. I have recently been experiencing a lot of hypoglycemic events. In light of this, I stopped using insulin. I have been testing my body/pancreas out and my blood sugar is completely normal. I know this

Does glucophage cause kidney damage?
MY friend told me that recent studies on metformin aka glucophage has shown that it does cause kidney damage as well as diabetes, itself. This was news to me and i m feeling hesitate to take them.

Vitamin D3 deficiency
I've just had Dr on phone telling me I am Vitamin D deficient. He said my levels were under the NHS lab of 30 (which he says is their range for deficient) and they didn't even register. He is prescribing me 3200 D3, which after reading posts on here, I feel is not enough. I asked him if I should take

Type 2 Diabetes & Hashis
I have been posting a lot this week, but wanted to share this. I have been treated for Type 2 Diabetes for about 4 years, with Metformin. I was originally on two doses of 500mg a day (1,000mg), which my Dr increased to 2000mg a day last year. I found out this week that my B12 is insufficient and that
