Plantar fascia tear, due to long-term prednisone use?
Following sudden and agonising heel pain on Monday morning, I've seen my physio. He says it's an unusual injury, but likely due to long-term steroids. I have a tear to my plantar fascia, where it inserts under the heel. He strapped it and suggested heel cups to lift my heel (Amazon) and only supportive

How can they really know?
I'm a bit perplexed as to how they can really tell the difference between OA and RA.I have heard of so many people that are told they have RA, to later be told it's OA. My arthritis symptoms have changed somewhat and are affecting other areas of my body and I don't know whether to bother mentioning

My Fibro specialist appointment - gut health
I posted last week about having an appointment with a pharmacist. My appointment was this morning and it was actually with a chronic pain specialist in fibromyalgia. He was really kind and listened to my history going back to migraines in primary school. He talked about genetic predisposition for my

A-fib and low BP in a bent position
Hi - I am in persistent a-fib and in reasonable health. When I exert myself in a bent over position I get unusually short of breath (it escalates much quicker than seems in proportion to what I am doing) and often when I stand up I feel vertigo / loss of balance / loss of orientation. The loss of

Plantar fasciitis
I might have yet another inflammatory condition: sudden agonising heel and sole of foot pain. I think I've been ignoring it, but boy is it in the fore front of my mind now! I'm seeing a physio tomorrow. My question: I'm not supposed to take NSAIDs, although I have taken a couple. Also Co Codamol.

psp remission ?
My mom is now 81, she was diagnosed in 2018 with psp. Most notably her symptoms were a 90 degree slant of her body to the right, tremors (she has a battery and a system in her skull to stop them), inability to write or speak legibly, she permanently uses a wheelchair, eyesight issues, and choking with

I’m just over a year down the line after my 2nd ablation and my quality of life is much improved with only 2 short episodes of AF . About 8 weeks ago I felt a sharp pain in my back which didn’t improve with rest so after having 3 physio appointments with no improvement and feeling a burning pain in

On slow drop but having back pain again. Pred withdrawal or DOMS.
Started on prednisolone in March 2019 and pmr was managed well, apart from needing to go up a little after vaccinations. The bi valent covid booster in Oct '22 when down to 6.5mg or so kicked my immune system it seems, so had to go back to starter dose of 15mg unfortunately. See previous posts.Using

Has anyone used infrared light for pain relief?
A friend has recommended an infrared lamp to ease neck pain. I have been given exercises by an NHS physio and the pain is improving but I want to speed up the process. I’m looking for a private physio but the one with the best recommendation seems to have no capacity for new patients. Is infrared light

Tendon issues
Does anyone know if tendon damage, likely to have been caused by pred, is reversed when stopping the drug? I had an issue with a twisted knee in May which appeared to have resolved with time, rest and physio exercises. I was signed off by the physio about 3 weeks ago and made my first attempt at Pickleball

Day after regrets
I'm 1.5 yr into my RA journey. I went downhill very quickly and was pretty much bedbound in a month. I had to reduce work from full time to 2 days per week. Slowly I've been getting better with treatment but it really is a slow process. I'm on MTX and Sulphasalazine and on good days probably about 70%

knee replacement
Hi. I’ve had both knees replaced twice over the last 16 years. The key things I’ve found are 1) physio. If ur lucky to get on nhs great but def worth paying for if you can. I wasn’t walking straight after last op and was told I needed to strengthen side leg muscles. Just straight leg raises laying sideways

Tomorrow's Quiz Postponed
Sorry I will have to postpone the for a week. It's just been a manic week including four appointments (one a very tiring physio session). The antibiotics I am currently on are not helping making me more than a little tired! Sorry again! ☹️

Graduated! Yippee!
Having graduated in January I planned to run 5km. I carried on running 30 mins and managed 4.75km! Unfortunately I suffered a ITB/ Abductor injury. My Physio gave me exercises and said my Glutes weren’t working properly on the Left side! After 3 months off I graduated again on Thursday. 😀😀😀🏃♀️

OK! I'm starting to prednisone taper again...
Yesterday I saw my rheumatologist after 4 months. I'd been doing really well on my tapering every three weeks and was at 3mg when I had the shoulder replacement surgery in July. We scheduled my follow-up for September since I was doing so well at my last visit in early June. I remained at the three

Getting there!!!
I suppose being told you cant do something makes you want to do it even more. Everywhere I look there are people running but I have been told to hold off for a little longer. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will be able to start up the C25K app again. I sprained my ankle a while back (apparently doing

Hi, as some of you may know (if you have followed any of my posts) I was in ITU for intentional overdose ( medication/suicide attempt) I was in a coma for 8 weeks in which time I contracted around 13+ infections.
