Hi. I’ve had both knees replaced twice over the last 16 years. The key things I’ve found are 1) physio. If ur lucky to get on nhs great but def worth paying for if you can. I wasn’t walking straight after last op and was told I needed to strengthen side leg muscles. Just straight leg raises laying sideways on bed. This sorted problem. Exercises need to be done regularly for the rest of our lives. I made that mistake first time round and thought that after x weeks of physio I’d be like new. I now realise that’s not the case and do little bits everyday.
2) I visit a chiropractor who has helped straighten me out and walk straight.
The physio May be able to help with treatment for your hip problem as well.
Please contact me again if I can help more 😀

good luck for knee op.I had a knee replacement 5 years ago and was best thing I have ever done.Home on 3 rd day, stayed at my sons for a week ,and then home on my own .My son bullied me in doing my exercises while with him,and took me to Harlow hospital for physio class for next 4 weeks.Took paracetamol 4 times a day regardless and did exercises every day, walking up the road and back when felt more confident.Ice,ice, ice with pack you put in the freezer, although some of my friends bought a machine that passes iced water over knee,I think.Anyway,my experience was exercises daily, paracetamol and ice.I have a neighbour who had a hip op and would not do his exercises at all, just sat in a chair, and now still walks with a heavy limp.As he paid for his op,about £14000 I think, what a waste!Once again, will be thinking of you tomorrow, and look forward to a life of knee free of pain.!
Thank you for your useful reply,I can,t wait to have it done i,ve waited over four years on the nhs waiting list so now i,ve paid private to get it sorted.
Yes I agree. I was stupid in regard to exercise. I had a double partial knee operation quite a few years back. They've never been right but I think this is down to my tardiness. I've just started swimming 3 times a week, and exercising in the pool. First week was horrendous! I've already noticed s difference in pain and balance.
Hi, I am afraid that I am unable to help you as I live in Canada. They probably do things differently here also I have RA and my therapy is for that.Good luck hopefully you will get the therapy you need.
