Having seen an Endo privately, he has prescribed three months of Liothyronine 5mcg to take once a day alongside 100mcg of thyroxine to see if my side effects improve.. The GP refused to sanction it and has asked the Endo to prescribe privately, and if I show improvement after the three months, the GP

Sense of smell affected?
Just wondering if my fluctuating sense of taste and smell is related to untreated hypothyroidism. I'm bumping along the very bottom of the T4 range on every blood test and have had an abnormal thyroid ultrasound scan. I can go weeks and months with a very poor sense of smell (and taste). On occasions

Period while taking cyclogest
Hi all, I am currently on day 11 of taking 2x400mg of cyclogest following an IUI procedure 12 days ago. I was told to take cyclogest for 14 days and take a pregnancy test on day 15 but it looks like my period has just started. Has this ever happened to anyone? I wasn't aware that I could still get a

Hi, it’s my first time posting here and I am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to me or is able to offer me any advice based on their knowledge and own experience. I am a 40 year old mum of two children under 10 and first noticed that something was wrong early last year when I started

Good day family, my story is I was diagnosed with graves disease in 2022 and I had symptoms of shortness of breath(and many others) and the physician didn't know why I was having shortness of breath and ended up having to do thyroidectomy(had I seen this group before I wouldn't have done it) Now I

Indigestion
I have a dull ache down my breastbone which comes and goes. Although I have a mild heart murmur it has been diagnosed as gastric related and I’ve been given Lansoprazole to try. I’m concerned as one of the side effects is osteoporosis of the hip - I already have osteopenia. Is this type of issue linked

Help with blood test results and symptoms please
Hi, I have hashimotos, and had a hemithyroidectomy just before Xmas. Before the operation I had been described as sub-clinical hypothyroid, with a TSH of around 2. Since the operation I been suffering from pins and needles and a feeling of slight breathlessness, which mostly comes on in the evening

starting T3/T4
Hi all I’m about to add T3 to Levo. I’m currently on 100levo and have been prescribed 50 Levo with 2x5 T3 per day. When is best to take the T3? One in the morning with the Levo and one around 12 hours later? Can it be taken near food etc? Any tips and positive experiences would be gratefully received

How long can Asthma flares last?
Hi I’m in to my 5th week now with a tight chest and struggling to breathe. A&E couldn’t find anything untoward and GP could only offer stronger antihistamines and Montelukast which I have reluctantly started a few days ago. The worrying thing is that my peak flow isn’t too bad but I still have the tightness

IGE Blood test results in severe asthma?
Does anyone know if it’s ok to have normal full count IGE levels in severe asthma? Do they shoot up in exacerbations? What tests you need to prove severe asthma in tertiary centres?I believe Synacthen is one of them to check steroid resistance is there any other specific to check once having exacerbation

New blood test results
Hi all, Please see my first results 6 weeks after introducing T3. I'm on 125mcg of levo and 10mcg of lio. I am very confused because I was certain that my current symptoms were due to being undermedicated! And how can my T4 be top of range again despite me reducing my levo and introducing T3. TSH 0.007

signs of mild hypothyroidism?
Hi there, New to this forum 👋 grateful to be here 🙏 I’m wondering if anyone could shine some light on my thyroid test results. In March 2023 my TSH was 0.98 (range 0.27-4.2), and my T4 was 15.5 (range 12-22) - this was done with a private GP so sadly no T3. These bloods were taken after 12pm and

Can anyone tell me why they test tsh when your on medication if it really serves no purpose. Isn't the free t3 and free t4 the main goal.

Thyroid Madness
I'm trying to get my act together! I find it very hard, when like someone on this site said, I forget who, that there are not a lot of studies done on NDT natural desiccated thyroid hormone porcine. My issue, reliable sources, who themselves don't take NDT, seem to think it should be divided
