WOULD NEVER ASK SOMEONE TO DONATE A KIDNEY FOR ME!
Haven't been on in awhile. While doing the testing to get on transplant list, a suspicious mass in right kidney was found. Had to get an MRI and then CT Biopsy which showed renal cell crcinoma. Because of Corona Virus couldn't have surgery for 3 month. The surgeon took out my right kidney on 07/

Husband beat covid - home after 123 days.
My previously fit, active, healthy 59 year old husband was admitted to ICU on 4th of April with covid. After 17 weeks in hospital we welcomed him home yesterday. He was in ICU for 9 weeks (6 weeks on a ventilator), had a tracheostomy, took a month to wake up after sedation was stopped, had a major trachey

Heparin free dialysis?
Hi, I hope all is well. This week, my dear mom has started encountering blood clots in her dialysis filter. She already receives small doses of heparin to prevent clots due to being mostly immobile; however, there is a concern if they give her more heparin that could lead to some seriously bad bleeding

Big thank you
I am overwhelmed at the response to my question re dialysis or supportive care. The sharing you all did re your personal situations was inspiring and thought provoking. What a generous community. I thought I knew what I wanted but now see that much more research and study needs to be done by myself

Dialysis or supportive care
I am female, 72 years old with high b.p. and type 2 diabetes. My gfr is 17. Although not needing dialysis yet my kidney team has been providing me with great info on dialysis and supportive non dialysis. At this point, I am leaning toward non dialysis. I am wondering if anyone in this forum

Ckd and ammonia smell
When my level was in the low 30s and high 20s my sweat smelled awful. Like ammonia or cat pee. I don’t know if it’s because my level has fallen below 20 or diet or meds but now it doesn’t have a smell. Now it’s just excessive like Ive been out in the rain, just soaks thru all my clothes. Have to change

CKD with ANEMIA and STARTING RETACRIT
Hi everyone, I'm new here but certainly not new to CKD. The anemia started in 2008 and would come and go and attributed it to working for a cancer physician where getting lunch on a heavy chemotherapy patient day was next to impossible, and sometimes leaving work at a decent hour was out of the question

Its my turn to worry now
Well, after over two years of stable numbers, I had a 4 point drop in my GFR. My creatinine also went up. I am frustrated but I am not going to let that stop me. I feel fine and I asked my nephrologist to retest me in a month. All of my other labs look fine or stable. I have not had blood tests in

I'm new here!
I'm new here. I just started dialysis. Hate it. My brother is a living donor. But all the red tape to get a transplant! Something about covid!

New starter to HD. I'm concerned about getting cramp during dialysis. How will this be managed when I'm hooked up and cant jump about? I normally end up rolling around on the floor in agony. Any one else suffer and if so, what do you do?

I am new to this forum, and would like to ask some questions on my fathers behalf.
My farther has been on self dialysis now for 3 years and has recently been very messed up with not sleeping at all for over a month even thought he has been prescribed temazepam and other sleep aiding drugs but have not taken effect. He got himself to a stage that he was ready to give it all up and come

2 months in; still fighting but her doctors want to stop treatment
I hope everyone has been doing okay these last couple of weeks. In my last post, I described how my mom’s blood pressure was low and her doctors wanted to stop dialysis. It was later revealed to us that her blood pressure was low due to septicemia related to bacterial pneumonia and that her doctors had

New to this
Hello. I've taken care of my father with disabilities since high school. He just started dialysis at home this week and is really struggling emotionally. I'm encouraging him to get on one of these groups, talk to others and thought I'd lead by example. Him struggling is hard to see and hard to live with

New to Stage 4 CKD
I am 47 years old and have stage 4 ckd and congestive heart failure. My EGR is at 22 and ejection fraction is at 23% My kidney doc told me to look to family members for a donation for transplant, but to no avail there is no one. If that's the case, shouldn't they be looking towards dialysis? Also

Gabapentin a nightmare drug!
I am a renal patient with only 8% kidney function who went onto PD Dialysis in April 2020 but it was a disaster!. Apart from peritonitis I also developed nephropathy in my feet for which I was prescribed the drug gabapentin (only 100 mg per day) for the pain. This immediately made me feel dizzy. I was

Preparing for a new chapter
She just had a catheter inserted to prepare for
Peritoneal
Dialysis
. I’ve been physically and emotionally drained watching her start this process and we haven’t even started dialysis. I will do whatever it takes to care for her but it hurts me to see her sad or that she feels a burden to us.

Struggling with depression
Hi, I was reccomended this site by a social worker. I'm hoping maybe to find support on here. I'm a 21 year old female, and I've struggled with anxiety pretty much my entire life. About a year ago I was diagnosed with postpartum depression. Soon after, I started getting sick, and on December 3rd, 2019

Dialysis question - advice please
Good morning! As some of you know my brother was in ICU for many weeks due to COVID. He is now in a specialist renal hospital as his kidneys are still not working. He is doing well apart from this. I have seen him a couple of times on the ward - he is very ‘skinny’ but seems to be perky enough in

Just wondering
I meant to say I am not on dialysis yet. Is there a diabetic out there who is on dialysis ? And how do you cope?
