I have GCA and have just been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease
Is there anyone out there in the same boat? It is not nice. Now I don't know who or what to blame for my muscle weakness and inability to walk far. Perhaps it hasn't been the fault of the steroids after all! The only good thing is that this website caters for both.

New medication
I have recently been prescribed phyllocontin as I have quite severe COPD and ever since I have felt really nauseous and find it hard to keep any food down. I did try dry toast and yoghurt but still feel queasy. I have been taking these pills since Monday and still feel slightly sick. I wonder if anybody

has anyone had knee replacement surgery?
I had knee replacement almost 2 years ago and my knee has never stopped hurting and swelling since. Now the Dr. thinks the artificial knee may be loose. I think it may be due to the Parkinson's and from walking so badly. Anyone else have any experience with this and what did you do about it?

Has anyone had their meds changed to a generic med?
After a few years on Requip XL which suited me very well, I received a letter from my GP informing me that I was being changed to Repinex XL. I tried this and almost immediately my tremor returned and I felt generally unwell. My Parkinsons Nurse told me to ask my GP to put me back on my original medication

Parkinson's Disease
Just thought I'd mention this because it's been more on my mind recently: I've had increasing bouts of tremor - most particularly over the last 8 months or so. But then again I've had a stressful time of it. Now I seem to have got to the stage where I have tremor more often than I don't. I might have

Parkinson's and Exercise
An inspirational article in 'Shape' magazine's November issue tells the story of Jennifer Parkinson (her actual name) who first began experiencing the telltale tremors of Parkinson's disease at the age of 30. As the tremors worsened and symptoms grew to include a stiffening body and leg-dragging rigidity

Has anyone tried red rice yeast as a replacement for statins?
My new doctor is thinking about putting me onto red rice yeast to help reduce cholesterol, but from what I've read up so far it seems the active ingredient is the natural form of statin from which synthetics have been derived (the patent for Lovastatin in the US exists and they are trying to declassify

question about cymbalta (hashimotos)
Hi Is there anybody who has been prescribed cymbalta for depression (or pain)? I have been prescribed it for both, however I have not started taking it fearing the initial two weeks of 'side effects' I was warned about by the psycho-oncologist. Then I read online about the withdrawal symptoms and I

Ollie Schnauzer
We returned last weekend from a great few days in & around Newcastle. We collected Ollie from his carer; he was fine but by Monday he had a large abscess on his foot, the 2nd in 3 weeks. The vet took him into hospital & carried out an exploratory operation because they found evidence of thickened tissue

An AMAZING woman has passed
Over the past few days my inspirational mother has passed. She has been suffering with breathing difficulties and after returning home from hospital, she had fallen out of her bed, onto her chest where she could not breath. We are now awaiting whether she will need a post-Mortem to establish the cause
