Hi my gp diagnosed me with either parkinson or parkinsonism...
I go to see my neurologist in August, I have seen my gp for about 8yrs so to her shock to see me with not a gentle tremor we thought was a arthritis issue from neck surgery (3 discs replaced with titanium) she told me to walk (I use a walker) and noticed my left side had gotten remarkably worse since

MCT vs Coconut Oil
I recently purchased MCT oil, thinking it might be easier to take because it's more liquid in form. I noticed my tremors where worse, after having had good luck with coconut oil. So I looked up info on MCT vs Coconut oil, and found that the most important medium chain fatty acid, lauric acid, has been

Does STRESS cause Parkinson's disease?
I have had Parkinson's disease, (Pd), since 1963. I was in a very stressful work situation, which was self-induced. My symptoms slowly got worse and worse for the next 29 years, before I was finally diagnosed in 1993. At that time, I was unable to carry on working and decided to give up my high-powered

What do MAO-b Inhibitors do for us that no other type of Pd medication can do?
I am not a doctor, nor do I have any form of medical training. However! I do have a lot of experience on this subject! I was prescribed a single medication, back in 1992, when I was first diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. That was the only medication I took for ten years. I now no longer need to take

DBS! STN vs. PPN
I understand that DBS in the STN helps with resting tremors. My husband does not having resting tremors, (therefore DBS in the STN is not recommended) more issues related to rigidity, balance, and gait. I found a clinical trial in the UK that uses DBS in the PPN (Pedunculopontine nucleus) which targets

The second thing the neurologist told me after the bad news, he advised me not to go to the internet to read about Parkinson's. I read about Parkinson's and also try different diet supplements e.g. Coconut oil, MCT oil, modified keto diet. I participate on this forum in my search to have the greatest

Band of Parkies - R&R Blues Band
I live in the Atlanta-Athens, GA area and would like to form a band of folks who have Parkinson's disease (PD) and enjoy playing R&R and Blues. When I'm on medication, I play electric guitar (mostly lead, love to improvise) and when my medication wears off I play harmonica with a pronounced vibrato.

The "miracle" of the OTC serotonin booster 5-HTP and my non-motor Parkinson's symptom's
The serotonin-booster 5-HTP, an inexpensive OTC supplement, has been more effective with the non-motor symptoms of my Parkinson's than levadopa has been with my motor symptoms. Recent research suggests that the Parkinson's medical community has been focusing too much on dopamine and that more attention

My neurologist has taken me off Madopar after being on it for 7 months because it contains Levadopa. What can I have instead?
I have been on Madopar for about 6 months and saw my neurologist for a review last week. The I told him of my problems with impulse buying that has gone out of control for which I am having help from a psychologist to help me control these impulses. My neurologist told me off in that should have called
