A Newbie
One month ago my "Elderly Care" consultant (I am 74 but not a bit elderly) gave me a provisional diagnosis of
Parkinsonism
for right-hand tremor, several falls (poor balance), intermittent stiff back, loss of sense of smell 20 years ago, but otherwise alive and well and working still.

Parkinson's or Parkinsonism
What is the difference between these two? My husband's appointment with the movement disorder clinic was this week, until they cancelled it, and the next available is in May. Also, in my reading on this forum I've not seen much about this, but is loss of overall strength a symptom of PD? He is really

Respiratory infection triggering symptoms
After almost a year free of symptoms I contracted a respiratory tract infection that has left me with inflammatory pain in my shoulder, feet and hands. So far I am not as bad as I have been in the past however it was a similar respiratory virus that triggered my wort episode 7 years ago.

Current state of SCA treatments. A new summary.
I came across an excellent paper today that has a summary of most of the main treatments being explored for SCAs. I found the conclusion at the end to be most heartening: " RNA targeting therapies will be the solution for the near future. Exciting recent results from clinical trials in various neurodegenerative

Controlling systemic inflammation - through skin cream?!
The skin is the body's largest organ and the first line of defense against pathogens, so perhaps it should not be so surprising that improving the skin's barrier function reduces systemic inflammation. A recent study found that when subjects applied a skin cream designed to improve barrier function (

Homeopathy, herbal treatments, Ayurvedic treatments…
Homeopathy, herbal treatments, Ayurvedic treatments… Do you use any complementary therapies to treat your Parkinson’s symptoms? Are you a doctor who is interested in alternative therapies? We’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Headache pills have caffeine.
I use excedrin for tension headache daily and at least 4 of them. They are loaded with caffeine but the ones without caffeine really don’t work. Is the caffeine a major problem here. I am going to try curcumin.

Living with PSP
I was diagnosed with P.S.P in Sept 2018 and just today attended my first PSPA meeting at Liner Hotel which I found quite daunting but informative. I am still very nervous about what the future holds but hope to remain positive but feel sorry for my wife who will be caring for me.

Just beginning my Parkinson's journey
I am not sure when my symptoms began as I am not sure if it was the beginning of Parkinson's or just a sign of getting older or something completely different. The first sign that I was not my normal healthy self was three years ago when I was having trouble maintaining an erection at 56. Tried the standard
