One month ago my "Elderly Care" consultant (I am 74 but not a bit elderly) gave me a provisional diagnosis of Parkinsonism for right-hand tremor, several falls (poor balance), intermittent stiff back, loss of sense of smell 20 years ago, but otherwise alive and well and working still. I am booked to have a DATscan on April 8th and am resigned already that I have PD. A friend with PD recommended Mucuna - I've filled capsules with the powder and take 2 3 x a day. The consultant also put me on one co-beneldopa 3 times a day.
What's with the precision timing for taking a dose?
Any tips?
Where would I find a non-drug treatment protocol?
I am consulting an Ayurved doctor in 3 weeks

The Dat scan is not very good at diagnosing early-stage Parkinson's. If the mucuna and co-beneldopa relieve your symptoms that is sufficient to confirm a Parkinson's diagnosis.

As far as a non drug treatment protocol, especially for someone who is recently diagnosed, many forum members are using mucuna to good effect as well as mannitol and high dose thiamine/ vitamin B-1 (HDT) which is a protocol developed by an Italian neurologist, Dr. Costantini. You can use the "search box" feature at the top right of the page to enter any search term.
For information specific to HDT, the following link will take you to a page that will answer most if not all of your questions regardiung HDT, Dr. Costantini, members results from using HDT, a list of symptom relief benefits that members have reported from using HDT, where and what to buy, how to use it and much much more!
