Mechanism by which Alpha synuclein causes neuronal cell death found
https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/news/newsroom/news-releases/road-to-cell-death-more-clearly-identified-for-parkinsons-disease This is of interest because it provides clues as to how to mitigate or prevent Parkinson's. See the commentary by Dr. Shallenberger that I posted below. Also, at least one person

Family tensions
Last night my stepson (adult, 38, lives with us, learning disabled, lost his job of 20 plus years because of his temper) had a temper tantrum, ranting about how he wanted to start 2019 with a job. Dr David Permutter and the Appendix.
For some reason, this will not allow me to copy and paste a link, even though I've done it here many times. I wanted to direct you to a talk by neurologist Dr David Perlmutter on Parkinson's and the appendix. Forgive me if you've already seen it. He speaks of a markedly reduced risk for PD in those who've

Belladonna Tincture for PD symptoms especially rigidity
One of such paper is given in the below link which end with following conclusion (keep in mind that this was published in 1948): "Symptomatic treatment of postencephalitic
Parkinsonism
with Bulgarian belladonna root extract is superior to all other medications tried in the past." https://drive.google.com

Advice about mannitol
I started mannitol 5mg twice a day. I felt I was moving about a lot more easily. But I had to give it up because it seemed to be giving me diarrhea. Diarrhea is a perennnial problem for me. It was partly solved by taking LDN but I had to give that up when I had a knee replacement. I feel I can't do mannitol

Off topic- Gluten Free favourites
https://www.sbs.com.au/food/recipes/breakfast-bread Off topic but I wondered if anyone has any favourite gf products that make going gf that much easier? For me, the breakfast bread (see link) is a saviour. To make it easier, I change the ground flaxseed to buckwheat flour, the coconut oil to olive

KETAMINE STILLS PARKINSON'S
Neuroscientist Torsten Falk's research indicates that the anesthetic ketamine eases dyskinesia in rodents and also in five Parkinson's patients who were already taking it for pain relief. Repurposing ketamine for dyskinesia could get it to patients quicker. It's already been safety tested at higher doses

How the Keto Diet Impacts Gut Health And The Microbiome
Now, we started out talking about the keto diet and went down a little bit of a gut health rabbit hole. So how are they connected? It appears that the ketogenic diet has a beneficial impact on gut health and the microbiome. The following are three studies showing the beneficial changes that occur to

Carbidopa levodopa dosage
Hi all, my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s about 3 months ago. He has a right hand tremor and was started on one pill and is now taking 4 carbidopa levodopa pills per day. We have seen no improvement in the tremor and at times, he feels it’s worse. Could anyone comment on their experience

Tremors getting worse. Feels like a runaway train with no brakes.
I take carbidopa-levodopa 25-250 mgs. 3 tabs 3 times daily and Lexapro 5mg. One tab daily. My PD tremors are getting worse. It is slowly taking my life away,at 61 years old and around 10 years since diagnosed. Any advice would be appreciated.

Vinpocetine
I can't remember who commented about Vinpocetine, but thank you to whoever it was. This is purely anecdotal on my part, but I think it has enhanced blood flow to my brain and other extremities. My hands and feet are no longer cold all the time and I feel better in general. Here's some info from Simon

Cochran Regimen
Has anyone ever heard of the Tim Cochran foundation? He seems to have been rather successful in combating Parkinson's Disease and helping people with it but I can find so little on it online and to my surprise I couldn't find anything on here. I was put to researching this by a friend who says her son

[Off-topic] Coffee or tea? The answer might be in your genes
I glanced at this article earlier and would probably have ignored it. Until I saw a word which is so very specifically important in the context of thyroid! It just might be slightly interesting! [i]
