Is weight loss always ominous?
I asked if the heart failure team were aware and they said yes as its all the same team (so I think they're part of the
palliative
care
team).

Gone from tachycardia yo bradycardia
My gp beginning of this year referred me to
palliative
care
, not for end of life but for support living with the illness. However the palliative consultant stopped it as in their opinion cardiology might be able to do more.

Malnutrition
She is currently in respite
palliative
care
. In recent weeks we have experienced a massive deterioration in her ability to consume anything, including the food we had been pureeing. Her weight has plummeted and she is so so thin..

I know gps are under pressure, funding issues etc but
care
and kindness cost nothing. Fortunately I rang the
palliative
care
team and 'Jenny' was kindness itself.

Update on hubby Nov 2022
I am so proud of hubby, for those who have been following our story, you will remember that when he was admitted to A&E in June 2021, that his Hepatologist was ready to bring in the
palliative
care
team if hubby carried on drinking.

Surgery or not!
My oncologist and surgeon have now suggested that I have a choice to make between major surgery to remove the oesophagus, with the trauma of the surgery and the subsequent adverse effects on overall quality of life or, because of my age, ‘watchful waiting’ and to move on to

I know some people fear the worst when
palliative
care
is discussed, they fear it means end of life care, but in most cases it doesn't mean that at all. They are brilliant with drug combinations and have time to listen and chat.

Caring for Dad with liver cancer........
He has got 3 metastatic tumours, and was told he was too frail to undergo treatment so he was referred to the
Palliative
care
team. They initially said Dad had 12 months, but he's declining rapidly and is now struggling with hepatic encephalopathy which is causing more problems.

Pill to end life
I was told by my doctors and also
palliative
care
, that there is a pill to take to end your life. My doctors won’t give to me without chemo and radiation, however. I think it’s important to be able to have one as soon as possible.

Understanding Palliative Care
I received a email today: There is a lot of confusion when it comes to
palliative
care
.
Many people equate the term
care
with hospice, but the two terms are not interchangeable.

T3 only and feeling a bit desperate
I have been taking T3 only for a handful of years now and for a couple of them on a LCHF diet I was happy enough. I lost weight, and felt good. In October 2020 I restarted HRT (I still had/have) hot flushes, but within 2 months I had started to gain weight and on balance I thought that I would rather

Doctors said she was ready for
palliative
or hospice
care
. We do not qualify for hospice care because every time someone comes out to do an eval, she appears fine and says nothing is wrong. Most days though she has horrible nausea and eats little.

Preparing for end of life care - what to discuss and where to get help
Did you involve any professionals in advanced care planning and preparing for end of life
care
? Do you receive any
palliative
care
from a hospice or someone else, and if so what does that involve and how did you get it? Thank you everyone
