has anyone had really awful bone pain and achin... - My Ovacome
has anyone had really awful bone pain and aching joints on Avastin ?
Bone pain, yes. Some aching joints but bearable. I think these are quite common side effects.

Thank you for such a prompt reply...really helps to know ! x
Hi I have deep muscle pain in my upper right arm which restricts movement and my grip is weaker than normal but as this is my seventh line of treatment, avastin combined with cyclophosphamide I'm not complaining too much!!...My oncologist has said that it is becoming clear that muscle and joint pain are increasingly being reported as a side effect that wasn't apparent during the trials. Hope it is not too debilitating for you.
Take care
Hi. I've just had my second dose of avastin last week. After the first developed a hideous pain in one side of abdomen, may just have been coincidental as CT scan showed nothing alarming. Just waiting to see if it recurs this time.
Hope your pain is bearable and the benefits are worth it
Best wishes.
Hi
I have a stiff neck and also have odd abdominal pains (I like to think its the avastin fighting the tumours!)
I also have the odd nosebleed but none if these cause me too many problems

Hello,
After 7 months with Avastin and Caelyx each 15 days, my knees are aching a lot... I almost can`t climb the stairs at home at night...
I started acupuncture yesterday to heal them. The chinese doctor said in two weeks I'll be better.
Hugs,
Fernanda
Hello,
Thank you for your post and yes I do suffer very bad pain in my joints. I discussed with my oncologist who said that I would have suffered inflammation of my joints as a result of my second line carbo/gemcitabinen treatment last year. I have been on three weekly Avastin since last Novemer which prevents the inflammation settling down. I was finding it crippling to walk, raise my left arm and said to him what could I do. He recommended low impact exercise and my GP, who I should mention suspected bone cancer, then refereed me to a scheme called Aspire. it allows me to access a coach at our local leisure centre and I do weekly swimming mobility lessons. Hurray things are improving as working out in water is helping improve muscle tone and is helping me feel as though I am achieving something. Shold say that oncologist did not agree with GPs thoughts on bone cancer.

Hi again,
I really wanted to say thank you again for your post, reading the original and the responses, has made me feel less alone today and less bonkers!
Love Wendy xx
Never alone , never bonkers !
The wonderful thing about this community is that you really do begin to understand , that everyone has side effects,, everyone can offer ideas as how to help alleviate them , and that there are so many survivors ...and that's wonderful !
After two years of this , two ops , and into my third regime of chemo , and too many friends with similar , breast / and or , Ovarian , that REST is a must ...families must help , rotas made , guilt pushed aside , and no never , ever , bonkers .
Thank you to everyone for your responses. Just to add that biking is ok for me so maybe a stationary bike may help some of you on avastin. I have found that ibuprofen and paracetamol don't help much to ease aches and discomfort that I have, particularly on my feet on the sides, my shoulders and back.
Hi,
I have pain on the inner side of both feet as if I am walking on bone!
You should let your doctor know so he can prescribe medicine. This is one of the bad side effects you should watch for.
I think this is your first message.
Welcome to this site. I hope you find it a great source friendship and support.
Just a little tip: before replying to a message, check how long ago it was written. It can be upsetting to older members to see friends who are no longer with us popping up. It's very easily done!
All best wishes. x
p.s have people's blood pressure gone up as a result of taking avastin?
Not noticeably. Well within normal range still, but mine tended to be on the low side before.

Sometimes my blood pressure rises, but most part of time it's normal. The highest is always before pet scans and appointments with onc, but I think everybody is nervous in these two moments.
Today was my second session of acupuncture. Knees are better, and the stairs were not a challenge to climb.
Hugs,
Fernanda
I have just seen these posts today and would like to say thank you to all the ladies who have posted. I am in remission after having been diagnosed with OC in May 2013 and am on Avastin for maintenance after first line chemo and have just had my 12th dose on 14th June.
I have been having quite a bit of pain in my knees and often find it difficult to climb the stairs or to kneel down. I am so glad to hear that this may be due to the Avastin since i was getting quite worried why I was feeling this way.
Since April, I have also had pain in my left heel and initially the GP diagnosed it as Plantar Fascitis however after reading the posts here I am convinced it is a side- effect of Avastin.
My blood pressure did go up initially when I first started Avastin and this has now settled.
I get continuous nose bleeds and my nose has become very sore and that is really frustrating. I have often had hay fever type symptoms too and i feel this is due to Avastin too.
Good luck to you all and I hope we can all have a good quality of life.
Lots of love

I Have Been On Avastin f
Yes. After a few months it got worse
I have been on avastin for several months and have been experiencing bone and joint pain in my shoulders, heels, and sometimes my hips. I thought cancer must have moved to bones but bone scan did not show anything. Started noticing the pain seemed to intensify after treatment. I had already checked side effects of avastin and did not find my symptoms. So thankful I found others with similar experience!! A lot less scary now. I will be sharing this info with my doctor.
