Avastin & headache side effect

Hi. Just to update you. Only on the new painkillers since Friday evening, and while I had a headache on Sat morning and had to take an additional pain killer during that day - since then NO PAIN ... yippee. Had forgotten what it was like to have no pain. So pleased with the immediate benefit. Also, as a result my BP has reduced greatly - so a double benefit. Energy levels have risen so much in the few days; it is so amazing.

Hi daisies.

Delighted to hear you are doing so much better. I had tooth trouble for 5 months during chemo but couldn't have an extraction as bloods were too low. Ill never forget the relief after the extraction. You forget what its like not to have daily pain!!

Since i started on a clinical trial for avastin i am finding the headaches are getting worse. Have been taking NSAIDS which help but i still have dailyblinding headaches. Would you mind letting me know which painkillers you found helped. I think I might give something else a go.

Thanks. X

delighted for you Daisies and long may your feeling good continue!

Hi Daisies, glad to hear you are doing better on new pain relief. Missfitz sorry to hear you are still in trouble maybe you should look for a different type of painkiller to see if it works its magic. Reading your posts, I am off treatment at the moment and I know I have so much to be thankful for. So Daisies, now your pain is under control, try and get out and walk even go for a coffee or tea with friends. Life throws so much at us and I have had my share between one thing and another and of course the OC. Keep posting so we all can support each other when we need it.

Hi Missfitz, The pain killer is Targin, twice a day - with another pain kiiller, Oxynorm, if additional relief is required. I am on a trial for 2 weeks but am doing so well, with no aside effects from them that I hope I will be left on them Talk to your Oncologist about these tablets, because as you know we are all being treated in a different way - but this does not mean that the drug will be right for you, though. Was interested in your note that you are on a 'clincial trail' for Avastin : what trial is that?. You might post something on it for us all. Cheers.

Hi Daisies

Hope you're doing well. Thanks for that info on Targin. I'll ask about it at my next review. Would be so pleased to find something that works. Couldnt take oxynorm- found that really nauseating before.

The trial I believe I'm on is linked here:

roche-trials.com/trialDetai...

First time posting a link so I hope it works!

I knew I had signed consent for a trial when I started chemo but I wasn't told anything about it. It was the same day I got all the info about my treatment plan and expected side effects ect. Major overload!

When frontline treatment ended and I was continuing on this maintenance programme with avastin, I asked about the trial I was on. I find it offensive that we are so poorly informed about treatment. I did read the form that i signed and understood that I was partaking in a trial but was given no information on it. Anyway, Hope the info was of use.

Take care all. X
