Shingles - part 3
After much googling, I can see that this is indeed shingles even though I only have 5 spots. The GP was actually quite panicky, he told me to come down immediately and pick up Aciclovir, he said that 5 spots is probably just the start and it must be nipped in the bud and worse still I am to stop taking

Cracked nails
I would like to thank the person or persons who suggested to use Hard As Nails to help nails from cracking when using Imbruvica/Ibrutinib. I started using it and it is helping . I also found out that Vitry nail care for nail repair is also good but more expensive.

Why don't Doctors recognise the chronic after effects of Meningitis?
Hi Everyone. So I'm sat watching the news and they are talking about the effects of 'Long Covid'. Doctors are actually recognising the chronic symptoms patients are experiencing and planning how to improve their care. Covid has been around how long? How about Doctors listening to the Chronic symptoms

Has anyone had meningitis more than once? How do you cope?
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had meningitis more than once? I had meningococcal disease when I was 4 years old and lost most of my hearing in my left ear . I also had it when I was 9 years old due to having the vaccine, this form was viral meningitis but I was still hospitalised. I also lost my

Any studies on longterm effects of live shingles vaccine and PMR
I was wondering if anyone knows of any studies that have been done about those of us that contracted PMR after taking the live shingles vaccine. I wonder if PMR will last as long in our system as the shingles vaccine antibodies are active in our system? The pharmacist says the antibodies last 5+years

Bad nails
Does anyone have problems with their nails? The white part of the nails are getting bigger where the nail is not attached to my finger. The nails are also very thin and brittle so I can’t grow them long I just have to hide it with nail varnish as they look awful.

Viral meningitis last month
Last month, July 2020, I was diagnosed with viral meningitis after being misdiagnosed with covid (by two different md). So it went on for about 11 days before being diagnosed at the tail end of it. Now, a month later I am still having grogginess and eye spots, major fatigue. Several other lingering symptoms

Toenails and PsA (there is a photo)
When I first saw the rheumy, he asked about issues with my toenails and I said no. My nails aren’t exactly attractive, but they’ve been the way they are now for so long that I didn’t give it a second thought. My finger nails all have very faint vertical lines with sparse but fairly regular splinter haemorrhages

Supplements for losing toe nails?
I’m sure I’ve read that being Hashimotos can cause issues with nail plates / beds. Ever now and again I lose toe nails and have recently been hyper and lost another nail again. I also have skin growing over the sides of my nails which is annoying. Just wondering if anyone can recommend anything that

Any particular concerns about having a boil on shoulder and primary lymphoedema affecting lower limbs?
Probably coincidence, but in 2016 I first developed lymphoedema symptoms in my right foot and leg. Shortly afterwards I had a very nasty boil on my shoulder which lasted several months but eventually (with help of antibiotics) get better but left a large scar. Now another boil has developed where

PMR dose reduction following hospital stay for cellulitis
I have had a bad bout of cellulitis and am on IV antibiotics for past week. On admission to hospital in AandE they upped my dose from 4mg to 10mg. If I am on this higher dose for let’s say just 10 days while I am on IV antibiotics how quickly can I drop back to usual dose? Do I need slow reduction

Shingles and cll
I have been on ibrutinib since aug 2019 and now that things have opened up a bit my sister was going to come for a visit. Only problem is she now has shingles. If we eat outside and she uses the downstairs washroom are we ok? I have had the shingles vacine...but then again so has she and got it anyway

Ticks/Lyme disease and hypothyroidism
I have just removed two ticks, two others broke off and the mouth part remains stuck in me. I have seen things on here before about ticks in relation to thyroid, but have never read them because I’ve never had one attached before. I presume I need to see a nurse to get the remains removed? Will it be
