Hi folks, I'm having a bit of a dilemma at the moment and decided to see what others feel about this. I'm in the UK if that helps. The short of it is: If you went into hospital for planned surgery and awoke to find that an additional procedure had been carried out without your authorisation, would

Stoma issues
I had a stoma after my second chemo due to a bowel perforation. When I had my TAH my bowel was resected as well but my stoma was not reversed at the same time as I was still having chemo and the fear of another blockage was too great. It's healed and ready for reversal but I've been too frightened

I was recently prescribed high dose antibiotics and steroids for 5 weeks following the appearance of a very unwelcome lung lesion on my ct scan back in June. Whatever it was has shrunk in my latest ct scan and is now barely visible so it did the trick. However since finishing the steroids I have had

Will surgery have long term effects?
I have had it confirmed I have bowel cancer and am waiting for surgery to remove my colon. This will leave me with an ileostomy- stoma and bag - permanently. Will this effect the absorption of thyroxine? Any other effects I should be aware of?

Bowel re section
I had an appointment yesterday with the specialist endo nurse who has suggested i have a vaginal scan to see if the endo on my bowel has grown more because of my increasing symptoms. She then said if it has then bowel resection is an option but will require me to hace a stoma. Has anyone had this x

Tastebuds
Thank you for your replies to my Gemcitabine query very helpful. My next query is less worrying but very annoying since I started treatment last year I have had a definite change to my sense of smell and taste and being a real ‘foody’ I found this to be one of the more frustrating sides of this whole

One week out of hospital.....
A big THANK YOU to all those of you who offered me so much brilliant advice on how to adjust to living with a stoma . That has proven to be the easy bit bar the pain of my innards trying to re assemble themselves . This was my fourth , major abdominal operation and innards do not like to be touched and

I’d tried suppositories and laxatives from doc but nope and it was all put down to constipation during pregnancy. I thought I was having contractions and went to hospital to be

Hysterectomy / Gallbladder
Hi everyone, so I am seeing my gynae soon for a review, I have been on the waiting list for a hysterectomy, removal of both ovaries and excision. I am having daily bleeding, had TCRE and removal of polyps but didn't help. Large chocolate cysts on both ovaries and extensive endo/adhesions everywhere,

Possible lung infection???
Well after a rollercoaster of emotions over the last couple of weeks, lung lesions, probably a new primary lung cancer and then a possible infection, I’m now on steroids and high dose antibiotics. Hoping and praying that this clears whatever is on my lung. Feeling strange on the tabs to say the least
