Possible lung infection???

Well after a rollercoaster of emotions over the last couple of weeks, lung lesions, probably a new primary lung cancer and then a possible infection, I’m now on steroids and high dose antibiotics. Hoping and praying that this clears whatever is on my lung. Feeling strange on the tabs to say the least but getting on with it. Read the leaflet of side effects and just too many to even think of or process!! I’m not a normal tablet taker, well I wasn’t until this!! Steroids making me eat for England, that’s a change, and causing constipation through stoma. Managing it with sodium duccosate and copious amounts of stewed plums, apples anything I can use!

Forever aware of others in tough times so sending hugs and a few little licks friends from my new companion Lottie Who brightens my day every day x x x

Omg reading the leaflet. I'd say that's a daring and determined spirit, Diane. That said, I read those too. Other folks watch Scream! on Netflix... ah well... if we need it, we need it.. side effects be *censored* ;)

Your medical team expects the lung thingie to respond to antibiotics, and well it should. I believe it. Hang in there despite bowel/eating challenges. I bet you'll feel so much better once the issue clears. Sending you confidence in exchange for worries. Xx. Maus

Oh Lottie looks so cute, it’s no surprise she brightens your day.

Here’s hoping the antibiotics clear the lung infection, I’ve read the chemo can make us very susceptible to those. Hope you’re not too hyper from the steroids, I am.

Hi Diane, Love your companion she so cute, I hope the infection is cleared up soon and

can continue with your treatment with good results.. Take care Lorraine xx

I don't know what your liquid intake is like but perhaps try to somewhat increase how much you drink as it might help liquify the stoma output. Since you are eating more maybe also stay away from foods that tend to thicken output such as starchy foods like white rice, potatoes, pasta. Also, nut butters and applesauce. I am sure you can do a bit of googling and see what might help food wise. I think you have to be careful to not flush out electrolytes so a balance is important. Lottie sure makes one want to reach out and just squeeze her.

Thank you for the advice. I am drinking more but as you say it just seems to be coming straight out - I guess it's finding the right balance. Steroids slowly reducing down to 20 mg a day from 30 mg but still having to take the sodium duccosat - desperate not to get a blockage. It's okay at the moment thankfully. I must admit I did have a glass of red wine last night, probably not the best thing to do, but it did the trick!! Lots of walks too with my companion x x hope you are well.

I was told that straight water often flushes out electrolytes. Important to consume more salt. This is a big document but covers a lot. You might find something in it that is helpful. It is not a single read that is for sure.

Thank you so much for the advice I’ll have a read of this. Stoma still very solid despite increasing the sodium duccosate but it’s moving, strangely at night though and keeping me awake .
