Alendronic acid quandary
After a recent DEXA scan I have found that I have
osteopenia
of the hips and some osteoporosis at L3 and L4. My doctor has put me on Alendronic acid tablets and 1200 mg calcium supplements(Adcal D3). After the first six days I had constipation and consequent haemorrhoids.

My PMR Update
I do still have muscle weakness and have signs of
osteopenia
which he believes are both a result of the steroids.

Mornings
I had a dexa scan a year ago which showed borderline
osteopenia
and I take Adcal-D3. I also showed negative on the Rheumatoid factor test. My last CRP and ESR were on 14th Feb and both good. I have since reduced to 5mg from 5.5mg. The wrist pain has become more noticeable since then.

He was started on Lupron in February and Prolia in late March (he has
osteopenia
and wasn’t informed about the Lupron bone density loss issue). Both of these were administered by the urologist. He just had his first radiation treatment yesterday (which is to continue M-F for 9 weeks).

Super Slow Resistance Training: 5 Exercises. One Set. Once a Week
The relentless onslaught of factors such as muscle and strength loss with aging are compounded by muscle loss from androgen deprivation (sarcopenia), loss of bone mineral density (
osteopenia
and osteoporisis), fat accumulation with the associated metabolic dysfunctions, and treatment induced fatigue.

Bone Profile Result.
I had a Dexa scan last week, my last one was in 2015 when they diagnosed
osteopenia
, so not sure what to expect from this one. I’m hoping someone in this brilliant forum might enlighten me on the above results. Thanks in advance. P.S. my ESR was 5, & CRP was 2.6 so well within range.

How much Calcium and Vitamins D & K is enough?
Hi, I was recently diagnosed with mild
osteopenia
and told by the physician to take calcium with Vitamin D supplements twice per day. A second physician said I should also take it with Vitamin K.

Stopped PPI's a Week Ago - Advice for Moving Forward Please
Since heart procedure I have been diagnosed with:
Osteopenia
, iron deficiency anemia and now B12 deficiency. I have the great good fortune to have a wonderful GP and be under an exceptional doctor at the local 'lipid clinic' who spots these things.

I'm 36 yo, I've been diagnosed with
Osteopenia
4 years ago. After giving birth I was having issues and didn't know that baby has taken all the calcium from my cells. Since then I've been regularly checking my bone density, Also I'm taking Calcium and vit.

Blood test for calcium
In the past I was mildly low with my calcium and since going through a surgical menopause in October 2021 and having a DEXA scan which showed mild
osteopenia
in my hip I began taking calcium citrate supplements.

Confused about my test results.
The original GP I saw said that she could increase my levo from 25mcg if I wasn't feeling well but I would have to be careful as I have
osteopenia
and if I went hyper it could affect my bones.

DEXA scan - help please interpreting my results and help with my suggested regime to improve my bone density
My DEXA results are: Findings: L1-L4: T-score +0.7, Z-score +1.0 Total left HIP: T-score -1.4, Z score -1.1 Conclusion: Assuming postmenopausal status, bone mineral density measurements shows low bone mass/
osteopenia
. No prior study for comparison.

DEXA scan results
Had a new dexa scan and my overall number went from -2.4 osteoporosis to -1.9
osteopenia
. I am ecstatic over the results. Unfortunately, because of past fractures , Dr still wants me to go on bone meds. That is a bummer. I am so scared of all the bone meds.

GPA related problems
Diverticulitis , R sided pleural thickening, Spinal

PMR AND BONE HEALTH
Was told by rheumatologist to have Reclast injection which I rejected and became very concerned about bone health since I have
osteopenia
. I have recently been reading about the affects of taking SSRI’s on bones. I have taken Lexapro for over 20 years and was told it was fine to take.

Dilemma at 5mg with symptoms and ESR on the up
DEXA shows some
osteopenia
, not osteoporosis. But maybe I have to go through this, to make the adrenal glands stir into life?

Endocrinologist letter - what now?
Also, as my TSH has been suppressed for about 5yrs and I was diagnosed with
osteopenia
in 2017 this is of concern. I've just received her letter that discharges me back to the GP with no further action but pointing out that a T3 prescription may be available on private practice.
