When medication fails
“Music affects the cortisol levels (a hormone involved in stress), SigA (an antibody) and
opiates
that occur naturally in the body: dopamine (a neurotransmitter implicated in the anticipation of reward) and oxytocin (nicknamed the ‘cuddle hormone’ because of its role in attachment and bonding).”

Illness back after toxic reaction to methotrexate
I had hoped to stay off strong
opiates
. Just cocodamol or paracetamol. And I am in agony. See doc on Tuesday. I'm not sure if I can put up with this pain till then. It seems that not only has the illness come back but the rebound neuropathy has too.

Bowel issues - urgent help needed
I have been dx with Endo since 2004 and have been on
opiates
pretty much continuously since then. As a result, my bowels no longer work on their own. Sorry, this may well be TMI for some... I can't drink Movicol, I've tried but the saltiness makes me gag.

The many labels hung on me, then taken off my a different doctor all but made me feel like a hypochondriac. I have had high ESR readings always, CPK high

Sleep Architecture
Studies have shown that
opiates
/opiods decrease deep slow wave restorative sleep, the kind of sleep you need to feel refreshed the next day. Morphine was shown to reduce slow wave sleep by 75%!!!

Naltrexone
Wondering if anyone has been put on this drug, it's from a study regarding Opiate Antagonists. I suffer horrendous itch 90% of the day and night and only sleep when I take zopiclone which I admit I am probably addicted to now. Any info from someone who has used it would put my mind at rest one way or

Hi everyone! I found this site while tearfully searching the internet for anything I could find about rheumatoid and lost mobility. I am incredibly discouraged right now and I am trying to find something, ANYTHING, that will be a source of hope and motivation to keep going.. A bit about me.. I am 38

negative bloods and medication
I keep telling docs that the
opiates
do not work, it's the nsaids that are helping, I would happily give all others back if I could take 3/4 x more nsaids each day. I have tried doing this, (I know they cause damage but i had had enough of being fobbed off with more and more
opiates
.)

Anger after receiving letter from Rhuematologist
I said that although I was by no means cured, the steroids had made me feel the best I have felt for last 2 1/2 years, and I had been able to significantly reduce the number of
opiates
I was taking daily.

Home use of Gas and air
Is it really the case that they would prefer us to be on extra
opiates
, when actually some people just need that extra boost of pain relief for just a few minutes? I dont know if i have explained this well, but obviously the MST is for the main pain relief, the oramorph for breakthrough pain.

Turning to drink!
Unfortunately I am allergic to
opiates
, can't tolerate any, go into anaphylactic shock. There are a couple of other pain med that I can't tolerate, so now I take Arthotec, an ASA base with a buffer. I am 71, so I drink a bit!

Looking for reassurance!
I'm newly diagnosed, I'm 44. I've had significant pain and discomfort which appeared bladder related for at least 5 years. I had a laparoscopy about 8 yrs ago for fertility investigations which concluded unexplained infertility, then had IVF, luckily conceived first attempt (initially twins but one lost

Somewhat belated introduction!
On the one hand, we have
opiates
like codeine and Tramadol which put me into respiratory depression or arrest and could easily kill me even at normal doses.
