Oesophagitis

There has been some discussion recently about Eosinophilic Oesophagitis (EoE) – also known as oesophageal asthma – a little known condition involving an allergic inflammation of the oesophagus and the build up of a type of white blood cells called eosinophinils.

Following some recent episodes of choking on fluids, I have had an edoscopy plus tissue biopsies which show eosinophilic oesophagitis. This can be simply described as an inflammatory disorder of the oesophagus due to food based proteins or other substances.

I have been diagnosed with oesophagitis following an endoscopy. various types of PPIs don’t seem to help. I don’t seem to have many of the classics symptoms but do get chest pain most often behind sternum and most often at night. This normally lasts hours.

Mid oesophageal biopsies to exclude eosinophilic oesophagitis. No evident reflux oesophagitis. So 6-8 weeks for biopsy results.

My symptoms seem to get worse (low energy, low heart rate, fatigue, dizziness, brain fog, respiratory and swallowing issue, gastritis, oesophagitis, constant blocked nose, plus another weird unexplainable symptoms such as feeling out of balance, jittery, irritability, generaly unwell).

The usual gastritis/oesophagitis. Long story short. Looking for guidance really. My Mum had stomach cancer and then got another primary in her Oesophagus at the same time. Sadly gone. But I am getting full easy when I eat, pain in stomach, bringing food back up and very fatigued.

They have found oesophagitis, gastritis and a hiatus hernia. They also took a biopsy of a polyps. Looking theses condition up, they all link them to not just the nausea but also acid reflux and heartburn, neither of which I have.

Basically I have had issues for over ten years but used to think it was gullet spasms as I had bad oesophagitis 20 years ago However earlier this year I noticed that my heart was skipping beats when I was lying down with my head on pillow and it coincided with the same flopping sensation in my chest

any one get similar linked to oesophagitis or another digestive issue?

Grade D oesophagitis, multiple portal gastropathy and 2 acute gastric ulcers - they've put him on lansoprozole 30mg once a day- is this as bad as it sounds?? Any advice, help, experiences really much appreciated 🙏 Sarah

I have a sliding hiatus hernia, oesophagitis/reflux and gastritis. Does anyone suffer with this and does anyone manage this without taking prescription drugs?

I get episodes where I can't swallow very well, which led to a gastroscopy showing eosiniphilic oesophagitis and chonic gastritis on biopsy. I get periods of abdominal pain and have gained lots of weight that I cannot shift since becoming ill.

It must have really inflamed my gut for over a year now....giving me gastritis, oesophagitis and candida in oesophagus and probably whole body. This is turn has made the acid problems awful 24/7. I have had to eliminate many acidic foods and alcohol.

This is a worry to us as my Husband already has acid problems with oesophageal acid reflux, oesophagitis and a sliding hiatus hernia for which he takes 50mg Omeprazole a day. Anybody any experience of Dabigatran causing stomach acid please?

I’ve been sorting a problem with GERD (acid reflux) leading to oesophagitis. Also had an ultrasound to check bile ducts as I’ve had my gallbladder removed after disease in 2013. Was told I have mild non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, apparently not unusual in middle age.

Diagnosis is oesophagitis and gastritis. The hospital recommends I’m prescribed a high dose PPI for 6 weeks which should then be reduced gradually dependant upon my symptoms.

It's state's- Hiatus hernia 3cm Oesophagitis grade A No infections No cancer found I am very relieved that it's nothing serious, that is a massive weight off my shoulders.

The oesophagitis has been worse and my GP has upped my omepazole. With the heat I think the local pollution has increased.
