Healthy 70 YO White Male Sharing Lung Cancer Experience
Okay. I’m a lung cancer survivor. I’ve had cancer and I’m not dead. The non-small cell adenocarcinoma they removed March, 2017, along with the lower lobe of my left lung, was stage IA. That’s damn good. Statistically, that means I have a 49% chance of living another five years. Of course statistics

Urgent question: low platelets
My husband Murray is in a very precarious state right now and I would sure appreciate your input. Just to summarize - he is 58, diagnosed 3 1/2 years ago but with symptoms for many years before that, 13q, 11q & trisomy 12, relapsed quickly after FCR, on ibrutinib for 9 months, scheduled for stem cell

Tocilizumab is not approved by NHS England for GCA on cost grounds
I am very sorry to have to share the news that NICE, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, has rejected approval of tocilizumab for GCA. Their decision is open to consultation, and we would like as many GCA patients as possible to comment on their website about this decision. Tocilizumab

2017 sees several new drugs for rheumatic illnesses - including GCA
2017 has been a good year for new drugs for inflammatory rheumatoid conditions, and at last tocilizumab has been approved by the FDA in the US for Giant Cell Arteritis. Let's hope that before long it's approved by NICE for the UK too! http://bit.ly/2z94Pxi

Stage 4 lung cancer
Hi. Mum has just been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Just waiting to see if it’s treatable (only possible option is to try and shrink it but not looking good). She started having a cough in August and after still having it at the end of September went and got it checked out. Can’t believe how quickly

Doctor’s appointment & Funny pic
Hello BLF friends, I must do a 24-hour urine test which will confirm or not the abnormal blood cells 🤞🤞🤞 I will do that when I come back from Mum’s as I am leaving on Friday for her 90th birthday and staying for a week. 🎂🍾🎂🍾 Should it confirm a myeloma he will refer me to a haematologist. I must

Baby with sickle cell
My baby is currently 2 months and was diagnosed with scd ss. The doctor told me that she will still live a normal healthy life but would just require more medical attention. I want to know how early does pain episodes start and what are signs to look for? She is currently on antibiotics.

Is it more in the DNA than we think?
This is a question for the experts but even they need some data to go on so here is my point: Reading the forum highlights a wide variation in starting point for COPD. There are some who have been diagnosed in their 40s (even 30s!) and others not until, like me they are in their 60s. It is also the case
