Flare while tapering--need guidance
I have been on prednisone for about 2 1/2 years. I recently got down to 8 mg a day for about 3 months with NO PAIN (oh the bliss...). I went to 7.5 mg about 3 1/2 weeks ago and am having a major flare. I know it has been discussed a lot on here, but I can't find a concise summary of how to deal with

Bells Palsy that never was
Hi all, I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy', and put on prednisolone for 10 days, it didn't work, and I was sent to an ENT man, who did an MRI which confirmed that I did not have the Bells Palsy, but they found a small tumour active and moving in my left facial area. Totally desperate and abandoned (sorry- this is a long rant)
I have not posted for a long time, mainly because I’ve been in excellent health. In summary, I was diagnosed with GCA in May 2017, had terrible reactions to Prednisolone (severe psychosis being the worst- apparently 1 in 20 people suffer this) such that my husband had to call out the Crisis team. After

I have just reduced prednisolone to the second stage 50mg. Headaches are not to bad but still there at times. Can I take painkillers, if so which ones. The pains are normally in the temple and forehead areas.

Just starting on this journey…..
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with GCA and PMR in June 2023 so very much a newbie and it’s taking me a while to get my head round these conditions. There’s so much to learn and understand! From being a very fit 69yr old attending several high intensity fitness classes a week, I have gone to someone who

Adrenal Insuffiency?
I'm hoping someone in the know on adrenals could offer some advice. A couple of weeks ago I was very unwell with chest pains, shortness of breath especially on laying down, pressure on my breastbone, feeling rather feverish. I was advised by GP to attend A&E who weren't sure what it was and suggested

Odd thyroid test results
I also belong to the PMRAuk group as I was diagnosed with PMR mid 2020. I also have hypothyroidism dating back to mid 1980s. I recently took one more step down to 3mg Prednisone after being on it for over 3 years and a very long tapering process with a couple of flares to slow things down. But my question

Not allowed back on pred with TCZ
Some of you kindly gave me your thoughts on taking some 'emergency' pred so that I could get through playing at my concert on Saturday. Thank you all: I did take a moderate dose and felt so much better - most of the pain went, though it was totally exhausting. Yesterday morning I was intending not to

I have had Polymyalgia and Giant Cell since 12/2016. Started off high dose of 50 mg worked great helped with pain n mobility immensely. Then to 30 then 20 now still at 10mg. Every time I taper down to 7 mg. I crash n it hurts worse. I have never been pain free. in June 2021 my colon burst they blame

Plantar fascia tear, due to long-term prednisone use?
Following sudden and agonising heel pain on Monday morning, I've seen my physio. He says it's an unusual injury, but likely due to long-term steroids. I have a tear to my plantar fascia, where it inserts under the heel. He strapped it and suggested heel cups to lift my heel (Amazon) and only supportive

Reevaluation for Diagnosis
Went to rheumatologist on Friday, dragged myself in with so much pain and lethargy. I was reduced from 20 mg to 0 in six days after being on prednisone for eight weeks. I also mentioned I had blurred vision and went to eye doc and they said I have cataracts and dry eyes. But also had some jaw pain and
