recently there was discussion about prednisone pain when reducing the prednisone. Not sure how I can tell pred. Pain from pmr pain? Will pain medication help with prednisone pain?

Thank you

Do you mean withdrawal symptoms as opposed to too little Pred? If so, this may help - and yes paracetamol can help with withdrawal symptoms - but it won’t help with the PMR -

Thank you for the reply. Yes that is what I meant. So, if a pain med helps, it is not pmr bur rather it is withdrawal. I thought I read , when reducing , the body reacts to the lower pred. Not necessarily by flaring pmr, but by simply reacting to less pred. It is that reaction that pain meds help? Hopefully I am making myself clear😏

Yes the body does take a few days to adjust to new lower dose-for some it’s quite severe, for others less so, just a feeling of “somethings not quite right”. For me it was feeling a bit tetchy/achy as if going down with a cold or premenstrual tension -just “off”.

Paracetamol may help with that -but it’s shouldn’t last longer than 3-4 days

It isn't so much reacting to the pred but not entirely happy at the change - bodies don't like change! So small changes are best.

Not sure what you mean by "pred pain"?

But painkillers will often deal with non-PMR pain, they do little for PMR itself.
