Post about Eric's Passing & Offer to Help
I read the post about Eric's passing and my heart sank. It gave me a view of my future if cancer has its way. His dream, to build a community that helps its fellow members, it is exactly what I have been looking for. I can't help financially, but I am willing to do my part for the cause. I'm not

ADT failure and measuring testosterone
I know at least one man who "failed" ADT (Lupron) and was thought to be "castration resistant". In fact however, when he got his testosterone measured it was 87 when the target number for his ADT treatment was 20. So he wasn't castration resistant at all. His problem was that the Lupron wasn't doing

Live like you are dying.
Live Like you are dying. This song by Tim McGraw has a lot of meaning to me for many reasons. In 1999 Elizabeth and I met and started our journey together. She was 33 with 3 children, I was 58 . How we met is another story. I decided if I wanted her in my life, I had to take everything that came with

Prostate Cancer & Hormones - Prolactin
Evolution has given hormones promiscuous roles in the body. A particular hormone may be involved in a number of unrelated functions. Prolactin, as one might guess, is a hormone mostly associated with milk production, but it has various roles in the male body too. In addition, the prostate has prolactin

Autoschizis - A Novel Cell Death In Cancer Cells
Apatone was granted FDA approval as an orphan drug. Even though Apatone is considered a drug you can buy a supplement called ProsStay .....somehow even though Apatone is patented ProsStay is Apatone sold as an over the counter supplement. I am going to stack ProsStay, Zyflamend, Casodex, Metformin, Avodart

Chemo+ radiation+combo hormone therapy
Hi all, My father is on his third cycle of taxotere and recently switched doctors within the same practice (language, scheduling, and one doc being out). I recall the first doctor noting that at some point my dad would go off casodex and just have Lupron and zomeda and that he didn't need to have radiation

Major Prostate Cancer Breakthrough
ADT is not a cure for PCa because the cancer finds a way to defeat it. Most of you guys remember PCSPES..tons of users went 18 years without developing CRPC. But, PCSPES was spiked with DES and some guys got blood clots and the FDA pulled it because it was a supplement spiked with a drug. But check

How I Plan To Survive Prostate Cancer
When I didn't know anything about PCa I was rushed into an RP and when that failed a worthless SRT. When my PSA reached 1 after the SRT my URO said to find a Onco. On searching on Google The Cleveland Clinic ads kept displaying on how they were experts in treating PCa..So I went to the CC and saw the

New York Times story
I was a bit puzzled by the PCa news in the Times this morning [1]: "Hormone Blockers Can Prolong Life if Prostate Cancer Recurs" "The medical term for blocking male hormones is chemical castration ..." "Men whose prostate cancer comes back after surgery are more likely to survive if, along with the usual

Metastatic prostate cancer and Zytiga is probably failing.
Sister of brother with advanced prostate cancer. My brother is 68 years old and was diagnosed in 8/2015. His PSA was at about 1200 at one point. Casodex worked for a couple of months and now he is on Zytiga. I am hoping to get him into Dana Farber soon

Lupron Almost Always Works but Is The Grim Reaper...But Here is a Case when Less is Better Than More
I have read hundreds of case histories of PCa because the best predictor of the future is to study the past. The usual scenario...BCR after primary therapy or mPCa at diagnosis. At this point you can do a PSMA scan or Choline 11 scan to locate the hot spots. If Oligo ( 5 or fewer) go after the PCa again

Starting ADT
We met with the oncologist at UCSF. My husband will be part of the PSMA MRI clinical study that evaluates a new scan being developed for prostate cancer. They will be doing gene sequencing on his primary cancer in the prostate as well as sequencing the lymph nodes. Since he has been diagnosed as stage
