Diagnosis + 18 years; update since Xofigo
I finished Xofigo last October. My experience with it was good. Minimal side effects, no complications. Pain relief from multiple bone mets started after about 6 weeks on Xofigo. PSA was .66 on completion of Xofigo treatments. Unfortunately in January I fractured my T7 & T8 vertebrae in a fall. Fortunately

New to Lupron
Hi, just got my advanced prostate cancer with bone(pelvic) and some lymph involvement a few months ago(I'm 60 y.o.)...and started Lupron a little over two months ago. It's NOT a party. I'm such an "up" person...but I now realize that a lot of what makes a person who they are IS controlled by hormones

Zytiga while hormone sensitive
We met with Dr. Schulz in L.A. He's given us the green light to start Zytiga while still hormone sensitive. So my husband is taking casodex, Lupron, zytiga and about to finish his last cycle of Docetaxel. 🤞

Morgentaler & Testosterone Flare
New paper below. Abraham Morgentaler's Saturation Model states that PCa cells have all the testosterone [T] they can use at T levels in the upper-hypogonadal range. Therefore if T = 350, 650 or 950 ng/dL, there is no difference in the effect on PCa proliferation. The testosterone flare caused by Lupron

My Journey so far...
My diagnosis goes back to June 1st, 2009. I was 42. Biopsy showed all 12 sectors with 4=3=7 Gleason. July 23 had prostate removed. The pathology came back with Stage IV (pT4 N1 MX) PSA did drop to .2 after surgery though. Because of my younger age the treatment plan was Chemo 1st, then radiation

Zytiga in the hormone sensitive setting
Today our oncologist mentioned that he had been trying to get his hormone sensitive patients to have Zytiga in place of Casodex. He said that insurance was denying everyone. He said he was certain Zytiga would work better then Casodex. So I'm thinking of buying it in Canada? Thoughts/ ideas?

Possible castrate resistance already?
My newly diagnosed father just has his first follow up appointment. He started Lupron and casodex in May. His bone pain has persisted. The ro seemed to think there might be explanations for this but the mo was less hopeful. He said my dad's symptoms should be alleviated and that if the Lupron isn't working

Adding Casodex
Saw an oncologist the other day and he is adding casodex in addition to the Eligard I've been on since 12/16. I am having a new bone scan and CT scan at the end of this month.

Taking it one day at a time!
Hello, I'm 54yo, and was diagnosed with stage 3/Gleason 9/Psa 36, prostate cancer in 2013. I ended up having a prostatectomy that same year. After surgery my Psa went down to 0.164 and slowly made a climb back up to 3.2 by the end of 2014. After doing some extensive reading, in 2015 I became experimental

Favorable Casodex withdrawal
Just thought I would share this, might help someone. I started out with a psa at 850. I immediately went on Casodex, month later started Lupron injections. It took my psa down to 400. A month later I started 6 rounds of Docetaxel. The chemo helped take my psa down to 0.06. It went up to 0.1 and stayed

Choice of treatment: lupron with casodex or degarelix?
Choline PET scan shows PC in one spot of the prostate bed. PSA at 2.47. I am about to begin a course of hormone therapy for 2-3 months prior to 8 weeks of radiation to the prostate bed and continued hormone therapy. The recommended agents for the hormone therapy by the three oncology radiologists
