Concerned about husband diabetic type 2
My husband is diabetic overweight and smoker, he was on metformin 1000g , now on double the dose and has another tab added called dapaglifloxin 10mg , but when doing the urine dip test the colour on test strip is dark brown, so is in effect showing too much sugar, around two weeks before taking this

Big step forward
Today I am driving down to Portsmouth to take part in the Great South Run on Sunday. In August 2019 I began my running journey by starting C25k, combining my graduation run with my first parkrun in November 2019. Since then I have run 3 times a week, running in as many parkruns as I could. When lockdown

High BMI at risk of diabetes. New plan
After ready some of the amazingly supportive responses I now have a plan to eventually run 5K. I'm not officially obese but my BMI is really high and borderline diabetic. I tried doing the running last year and got to week 5. I've put more weight on since and just can't get going. From tomorrow morning

Diabetes UK predict there will be 5.5 million in the UK with type 2 Diabetes by 2030!
Hi everyone, I heard this on the news this morning and think that it's a shocking statistic as there are so many other health risks once someone has developed type 2 diabetes. Here's the article: https://www.diabetes.org.uk/professionals/position-statements-reports/statistics I'd like to remind members

Type 1 diabetes Phase 1 trial of the dietary supplement HAMSAB (high-amylose maize resistant starch modified with acetate and butyrate)
Yes, I know it's targeting T1D, but I'm wondering if they would need to change very much if they were to run a similar trial for PD? "Changes in gut microbiota composition, function, and immune profile following six weeks of HAMSAB supplementation were associated with increased SCFAs in stools and plasma

Does Prednisolone affect Cholesterol levels and blood pressure??
Hi. Back in February (pre PMR) my cholesterol was HDL - 1.5 and LDL 3.8. Six months later (four months after commencing Pred) my levels are now HDL - 2.4 and LDL - 5.0!! My levels have never moved by much over the years and this was something of a shock particularly as it has happened so quickly.
