Low ferritin but high iron? GP referral ....
Hi I've been talking to my GP as to why I should have low ferritin (17) yet high iron (35) and a normal MCV. When asked, she's like a rabbit caught in the headlights and seems clueless (also told me if my ferritin was 20, that would be normal, so mine is only "a bit low"?!). Asked to be referred to a

Been diagnosed severely anaemic when I've experienced no signs of anaemia?
Hi Due to having severe acne for 12 years I was referred to a dermatologist to be put forward for roaccutane. As everybody knows, it's a very serious drug and has dangerous side effects. Because of this I'm having to have monthly blood tests, pregnancy tests. My first blood test established that I was

Things that can affect a blood test?
It's rather a long story, so to keep it brief, I had a B12 level of 127 (reference range 180-900) last year, was very symptomatic, and have spent 12 months battling with GPs and haematologists to get treated properly. My last B12 injection was 29th February 2016 and I am due some blood tests on 7th

Want to increase ferritin, but worried iron will get too high
My ferritin level is at the bottom of the range, and I really want to boost it. I think it will help me convert T4 to T3. I know that it's dangerous for iron levels to be too high. Does anyone know if I can increase ferritin without increasing other iron levels? My recent results: Ferritin 58 (23.0

Severe Anemia, Now got aching legs and short of breath?
Just wondering if anyone can help? I visited my GP last year as I was feeling tired, no energy, pains in stomach, coughing, and being sick. I was told that I needed to have a blood transfusion as my Haemoglobin was 67 and Serum Ferritin was 1. I walked into A&E no problem and received 2 units of blood

Sudden drop in B12
Hi all. I have a long long history of iron deficient anemia - often quite severe but very responsive to standard iron tablets. I have been monitored closely for the past 2 years for TSH, B12 and haemaglobinopathies. My TSH is rising but has still been in range, free T3, T4 are bottom of range and
