Supplement interaction

Hi

I am a bit unsure when to take my tablets as I have heard that ferrous fumarate tablets interact with both calcium and levothyroxine and should be taken 4 hours apart.

I have been prescribed by my GP the following:

Levothyroxine which I presently take in the am.

Ferrous Fumarate which is twice a day

Adcal-D calcium again twice a day

Could really do with some help juggling these.

You are right in that iron should be taken 4 hours apart from Levo. Any supplements/vitamins I take at lunchtime as most have to be taken with food.

Thyroid hormones are taken either first thing on an empty stomach with a full glass of water and wait about an hour before eating.

You can also take it at bedtime, as long as you've last eaten about 2 to 2.5 hours previously.

And iron should be taken apart from calcium.
