Pain with the Mirena Coil
Hello, I had the
Mirena
Coil fitted on 8 June to treat Endo after I couldn't tolerate the side effects of Prostap. My consultant insisted that the
Mirena
is "the number one treatment for pelvic pain and painful periods".

Is twitching a particularly hypothyroid symptom?
All that I’ve been suggested to do is have a
Mirena
coil, which I was told would stop my periods, to help with the iron levels. 3.5 months later - no real help there. I am not able to take medical-grade iron supplements because they make me very unwell, too, so I am taking OTC iron.

Mirena side effects
I’ve been experiencing headaches, funny vision, vertigo / sea sickness, and just generally feeling weird and spaced out. I’ve had every test going and everything seems to be normal. Is there any possibility this is all coming from my coil? Has anyone experienced similar?

endo and adhesion to bowel
They fitted the
Mirena
coil at my diagnostic appointment (which was excruciating as they told me I have a tilted uterus and hadn’t had my twins via natural birth - I did try to!) I bled for over a month with constant pain and ended up in hospital last week with a severe infection.

struggling with Adenomyosis
chosen to have the coil that may have helped me (I decided against it when he did my surgery) and said to go to my DR for pain relief if I continue to have issues and I only need to go back to him if I have issues trying for a baby (he just assumed this is is my life plan)….I decided not to have the

Had lap but endo tissue remains
He suggested the
mirena
coil which I’ve already had for a year and doesn’t seem to have helped at all. Should I just go to my GP now? I despair at the thought of just starting all over again but I don’t know what else to do :(

What now?
I say period but since being on the
mirena
coil my bleeding is sporadic bleeding for 14 days a month on and off. So gastroenterology felt that I may have endometriosis and not IBS. I had an ultrasound in August 2020 nothing apart from bulky uterus.

No Period after Zoladex?
This was ablated and I had a
Mirena
coil. Fast forward to late 2020, I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis via TV Ultrasound. I then carried on as usual, had physiotherapy for my Hypermobility and tried all sorts of pain meds. I have just finished a 6 month course of Zoladex 10.8mg (Goserelin).Â

Ongoing problems 8 months since surgery
I had a
mirena
coil fitted whilst I was under the GA. However, much to my surprise I was told there was no diaphragmatic endometriosis from what the surgeon could see. She did add that she could only slightly move my liver to check the diaphragm for lesions.

Burning pains
Hi everyone 👋 I had a laparoscopy last April and have recently had the
Mirena
coil removed. I’ve had burning pain in my left leg and under ribs. The same type of pain is also in my stomach and hips near my incision sites. These pains have increased a lot since I had the coil removed.

Microgynon 30 for stopping periods?
So following the gynae referral and an ultrasound that indicated a possible adhesion but nothing definite, I was offered either the combined pill or
mirena
coil to try in the first instance.

Advice from long term Prostap users please
My consultant has added in Estrogen patch and
Mirena
coil and my side effects are terrible. Has anyone been in this situation, does it get any better?

Removal of ovary and tube via laporotomy. Experiences?
I already take the combined pill and have the
mirena
coil fitted. Also has anyone had experience of a laporotomy rather than a laporoscopy for gynae issues?

New diagnosis how to cope? General advice
The sharp stabbing has mostly gone but I have some residual throbbing (which I assume is endo since my period is late and won't see to start) To help delay lesions I was offered
mirena
while having the lap but I am not keen I'd prefer a pill as if side effects can just stop.

Dienogest with mirena coil
I had a 2nd laparoscopy in March 2021 where I had the
mirena
fitted at the same time. I had bleeding for 6 months after and I started to get pain again when my consultant informed me I could take dienogest 2mg alongside which could help settle the pain.
