Just finished first meeting with radiation oncologist. What he proposed as next steps
Given my PSA of ".38" 22 months following robotic radical prostatectomy and with a "low risk" Decipher RP score, I had my first meeting today with a local radiation oncologist (Dr. Michcael Ray - ThedaCare Cancer Center Appleton Wisconsin). I have my first call with a urologist from an academic hospital

A question and a bit of a gripe!
Why aren't doctors acknowledging muscle wasting and osteopenia due to ADT. My husband began a round of zoladex about 4 months ago. The last time he did it was in 2014. After 6 months his butt had lost muscle and was ripples. His legs lost a lot of muscle. Also, there is osteopenia showing up. All

Next steps with high PSA during Jevtana
Hi folks, I have had 3 infusions of Cabazitaxel over the past 10 weeks and I am due to go in tomorrow (Thursday, 8/27). My PSA has been rising dramatically, from 5.7 on 4/20 to 32.24 today. My scans did not show any decrease in Mets (S2, L2, T4,5,6,7), and a slight "shadow" of increase. My doc and I

Soreness from lupron
I’m going Thursday for my 6 month lupron shot in my lower back/upper butt, and I’m usually real sore for about 5 days. Any suggestions to ease soreness? I run and lift 3-4 times a week, but I take off a week after the shot.

New to this forum: SBRT or Brachy to minimize chance of ED?
I recently entered the realm of unfavorable intermediate risk PCa after nearly 3 years on Active Surveillance. My Medical Oncologist has started me on ADT for 6 months and has recommended external radiation. I'm scheduled to see Dr. Kishan at UCLA on September 14 for a consultation and probable SBRT

Followers have been checking in on me...I'm STILL here!!! and so is my food! Pasta with chicken breast and peas in a creamy sauce
I've been so busy...we've sold our "extra" house next door to where my partner and I live (prices went up and we just felt it was time)...and I hand-picked our new neighbor who we love. So we had a million (not exaggerating) things to move into our already filled (think HORDER on steroids) house. And

Finally got home late last night!
And I don't even know what happened! Yikes! Except that I had 3days of prednisone, then saw my neurologist. Then the next day he wants me in the hospital.😐 He even got my daughter on a conference call to make me! Ugh! What's up with that? Anyway, another 2 days of Solu-Medrol, and an MRI. To show

BCR - what might be next ...
It was bound to happen – came as no surprise (although you could hope for a different outcome). My PSA has jumped dramatically, in the last 6 months. Previous reading was 1.7 – jumped to 3.2 a week ago - no reason to believe that the rising numbers are going to stop 'naturally'. I was on an ADT holiday

Very Informative Podcast
https://m.soundcloud.com/prostate-oncology/off-label-treatment-used-for-prostate-cancer This podcast was done by Mark Scholz (my oncologist from Prostate Oncology Specialists). Very worthwhile information. He discusses off label uses. Some here oppose that but Scholz was using Taxotere long before

Why continue Lupron if failing?
I am soon to start a secondary ADT drug now that Lupron is failing after 3 years. The plan is to also continue the Lupron. Why is this if it is failing? My MO says just that this has been done historically. I have done well with Lupron, but would not side effects likely be fewer if it was stopped? Hugh

YOUR ADVISE RE WHEN DO I GO ON CONTINUOUS ADT VERSUS INTERMETTENT ADT?
I would be most grateful for your opinion on my present situation. Since September 2019 I have been on my 4th ADT of Lupron and Cassodex. Cassodex only for 2 weeks. My PSA was 3.70 but the doubling was every FIVE weeks. On this fourth ADT, my PSA has NOT GONE to undetectible. As of last week it

Post HOLAP Peeing Problems
I finally got back to Mexico at the end of June which was two months late for my 3month Lupron injection. I was experiencing peeing problems. Had an MRl which revealed that: My cancerous prostate had grown hugely and that I had a few mets to spine. I was open to the idea of Docetaxel, but urologist

Starting cosadex
The scans were good in spite of a slight rise in PSA pelvis/amdomen showed no progression and bone scan showed no new mets and no progression. He agreed to start casodex and feels I should get a long run with it along with lupron 3 month. The bladder issue is an overactive bladder and taking meds for

Lupron Depot 3 mo. USA drug shipment shortages?
Got a phone call from my Oncologist's office today. They mentioned a temporary widespread USA shortage of the Lupron Depot 3 mo. drug that I've been getting for years. A little noodling around on the Internet confirmed that this could be the case. https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/drugshortages

I Can Do an Oil Change
My latest blog post, where I ponder the paradox of having a "can do" attitude while on disability leave. In other news, I completed chemo back in June, finished radiation in July, and continue on Atezolizumab, Lupron, Abiraterone, and Xgeva. I'm finally beginning to see glimpses of improving health

PSA dropping, yet testosterone rising on Lupron/Zytiga??
I got my first Lupron shot on 5/25/20 and started the Zytiga on 7/3/20. I'm an original Gleason 8 PSA 50 with extracapsular extension. Now with 4 bone mets about 3 years after HDR Brachy, IMRT, and 8 months of ADT. Here are my numbers: 5/22/20 3.41 ----377 6/19/20 .87 ----9.5 7/16/20
