Post HOLAP Peeing Problems

I finally got back to Mexico at the end of June which was two months late for my 3month Lupron injection. I was experiencing peeing problems. Had an MRl which revealed that: My cancerous prostate had grown hugely and that I had a few mets to spine.

I was open to the idea of Docetaxel, but urologist recommended Zytiga on basis of quality of life issues. $o I $tarted Zytiga in addition to Lupron. More on that in future post.

Urologist also suggested HOLAP reduction of prostate which I had in first week of July. It has been more than a month since surgery and I have developed a strange and unpleasant condition, which I am hoping can be explained by someone in this group.

If I am sitting or lying down, my urination is normal in terms of frequency and stream. However, when I stand up, Within a minute or two, I have extreme and painful urgency and produce only a few squirts of urine. If I continue standing the frequency of this urgency increases, so that I am dropping everything and running for bathroom. Going out shopping is absolutely impossible without wearing a diaper.

I am going to see the urologist this week but would appreciate any thoughts from members of this group.

Happy Trails (and may they not be dribble tracks on the route to the bathroom).

it seems you may have urge incontinence. You need to talk with your primary physician or with an urologist to come to a definitive diagnosis. If it is urge incontinence, there are medicines which can improve your situation. It is possible that the HOLAP caused some irritation of the bladder or you may have an UTI post surgery.

I certainly hope it is that simple. It is the difference between sitting/lying and standing/moving that concerns me.

What you describe is seen in stress incontinence. It could be a component of stress incontinence because of the procedure. Doing Kegel exercises every day for several weeks may help. Consult with your urologist, there are treatments for your condition.

Best of luck!!

Viva Mexico! But please don’t do that again? I too had a giant prostrate ..Non op. Now no cancer seen on scans. Our urology rules the days and nights . I went thru much uro hell. I know how it feels.. I’m still jacked up. But not1/10th like I was originally.? Hit that aggressive pc with chemo hard and you could get to a better QOL.. They might give you flomax ?

Walk away from your urologist and find a medical oncologist!

What is your rational?

i believe ,and its confirmed by literature,

that urologists "over -diagnose"

may be less now?

I also was in Mexico and was told that beside Docetaxel

and may be salvage radiation they have nothing more for me.

Returned to Canada found Medical Oncologist

I am now on Zytiga (Abiraterone and Prednisone)

salvage external radiation just once

and improvement beyond believe.

The detail now

is to live long enough

once that stops working

and something better will be available:

eg : ENZALUTAMIDE

(not available in BC)
