Association between different water iodine exposures & thyroid cancer: A retrospective study of high water iodine areas in China 2009-20
There are many differences between China and the UK. Including other aspects of water quality/analysis, diet, etc. For example, distribution of selenium in China is very complicated with adjacent areas sometimes have very different selenium intake. Therefore, we simply cannot pick up this paper and apply

I've had RLS for over 35 years getting worse as I get older. I'm now 74. I did well on mirapexin 0.09mgs for years. Then it made my RLS worse and it moved to my arms . I came off it with the help of tramadol 50mgs. I started alternating mirapexin and tram ,it wasn't perfect but better than nothing, Then

Hi, This won't be the full story as I don't want to to make the post too long and hard/annoying to read. It's already going to be too long. RAI for Graves around 11 years ago. Never felt good on T4 since. Normal dose around 100 micrograms plus around 12.5 micrograms a couple of times a week. Mostly stopped

What to ask Endo?
Hi all Sorry this is quite long. I'm looking for some advice about next steps and what to ask my Endo when I see him next week. Background: I spoke to my GP in March 22 because I was exhausted and anxious and people I barely knew were commenting how awful I looked! She ordered a load of tests which

Quick pre-MRI constipation question!!!
OK so finally getting an MRI this week to check for adeno/endo, should get a date for my lap after 🤞, my question is about preparing for the MRI...I take codeine for pelvic pain which makes me constipated, they say don't eat for 4 hours before mri and they may need to give you meds to still the bowel

is this a sign my meds are struggling or just how it is now?
Sorry for the long message but would appreciate knowing if this is typical or if I am being a little dramatic and unrealistic. diagnosed with RA nearly 2 years ago. Took a while but pretty much back to normal after moving to injecting 20mg MTX, 200g hydroxy and folic acid 6 days a week. Took just over

Iodine - no thyroid.
I had my thyroid removed in 2003 due to papillary cancer. I have struggled ever since finding the right dosage/supplements. I have just watched Dr Sarah Myhilll's thyroid video for the umpteenth time and have purchased some of her supplements even though some of them contain iodine. Any thoughts

RLS - tapering off Pramipexole & using codeine
Hi all, firstly am so grateful I found this forum. I have learnt so much and feeling hopeful so thanks for all the insights and advice. After reading about all the warnings of augmentation and seeing the reduced effectiveness of pramipexole after taking it for 10+ years, I am now coming off it. Down

T3 Trial and feeling worse
Medichecks end Jan 2024 Hypothyroid (after RAI in c2004) Spent 2023 improving folate, B12, Vit D although ferritin still poor. Came off PPIs and now take Gaviscon twice daily. Gastritis issues ongoing though. Officially a poor converter (dud DIO2) so really wanted to try T3 Dec 2023 - Trial of T3

I was diagnosed with bilateral toxic nodules causing hyperthyroidism in Sept 22. I responded well to treatment and now take 5mg Carbimazole every other day. My endo is now pushing for definitive treatment. RAI is not an option for me and stopping meds clearly won’t work. Removing an otherwise healthy

Hi 👋 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2021........I have been convinced that maybe it isn't fibo, but speaking to a top doctor (whilst in hospital for an unrelated matter) he asked why I'd came to this conclusion.........I said because although I'm in pain when I do not take my codeine I'm not

Success (I hope) with Gabapentin
I have had RLS for more years than I can remember. For years I took mirapexin till I augmented. I tried Pregabalin but I felt dizzy all the time and I put on a lot of weight quickly. I started tramadol and then alternated between that and mirapexin ( yes I went back on it). I coped like this for a long

sea moss
my 30 year old daughter had been treated for hypothyroidism for the last 8 years and takes 125 mcg Liothyronine. Recently a friend in Hong Kong where she lives as suggested sea moss supplement and she feels she has more energy and less brain fog. I’m concerned about the iodine in it but other components

Poor communication or misunderstanding?
So... I saw my NHS Consultant on Monday about my leg pain and inability to walk when flaring and we discussed my surgery etc and I left the appointment feeling pretty deflated. Long story short she's told me I have to go on the progesterone only pill while I wait for my 1st Lap (hopefully less than 6

OH sudden increase in TSH 14 years after Radioactive iodine treatment
Hi,OH (65) has been feeling really fatigued the last few months, also really feeling the cold. Treated with radioactive iodine 14 years ago and been on 100mg of levothyroxine ever since. He had a prostatectomy last June and we had put the tiredness down to that. A recent blood test has put his TSH

Do view the original which includes a map and various links. 16 to 20 months is so much more sensible than the few weeks so many previous studies have been based on. [i]
