I am prescribed co-codamol 15mg for arthritic pain and fibromyalgia, GPs and hospital says I can't really have anything else (without it being addictive) all is well for me and I have been taking them for years. I do have to take Laxido with them to ensure I don't get constipated. Gabapentin also helps with the pain (which is constant and severe)

Thank you, tonicwater, yes, i have actually been on Gabapentin before for a spinal cord injury and it worked well. When i get back to my own country, i will take it up with my GP.

If its prescribed by your doctor then they will have taken into account any risks that may relate to taking the drug with liver disease, so in that case the answer would be yes. In the uk Codeine is prescription only so can't be just bought over the counter. I'm not sure whether that's the case in Canada. The general rule is - dont start a new medication, even holistic or herbal stuff, without first checking and clearing it with your own doctor or medical team.
