I've had RLS for over 35 years getting worse as I get older. I'm now 74. I did well on mirapexin 0.09mgs for years. Then it made my RLS worse and it moved to my arms . I came off it with the help of tramadol 50mgs. I started alternating mirapexin and tram ,it wasn't perfect but better than nothing, Then I augmented on tram. I was devastated. My lovely doctor and neurologist in Greece are not allowed to prescribe buprenorphine so they persuaded me to try gabapentin. I had failed on Pregabalin some years before. I felt drunk all the time and put on a lot of weight very quickly. So I've been building up with Gabapentin, I take 400mgs at 4pm, 600 at 6, 600 at 8, and 600 at 10. This makes 2,200mgs. However I'm getting breakthroughs at around 11. To stop this I was taking it paracetamol and codeine. Last night because I have a bad cold and a chesty cough I decided to take trebonN. Again it's over the counter. It works amazingly. I can lie in bed and TV which had been an impossibility This trebonN 's ingredients are Acetylcysteine and it's 600mg. Haven't felt so good in years. Has NO RLS in the afternoon either, I couldn't sit and knit or watch TV.i had to be on my feet doing things. Has anyone tried this product as it seems to work for me, just saying though that ,I don't have any sugar or wine. I buy jams with Stevia etc I know that some things work for some but not for others. So never give up something will turn up to help. I've had great advice from Jools and Sue and some other kind people and I thank you all for your help and this forum. Without it there were times when I felt I couldn't go on with this vile disease but reading the articles I saw. many people trying and living with it. By the way can I bring gabapentin into the US, also trebonN , Magnesium as I'm flying to California in two weeks.

Gabapentin success
It might be because having a cold causes inflammation which can make your ferritin go up. Did you ever have it tested? I can't imagine that trebonN helped your RLS.
You can bring gabapentin and the others into the US. Just bring them in your purse.
My ferritin is always high so it's fine. I have it checked every year. It's way higher than what is considered normal. I have to bring 4 boxes of gaba so I don't think they will all fit in a purse. Can I not bring some in a suitcase. If they get lost ,can I buy them in California or are they strict. In Greece I can get them without prescription
I'm glad you have found relief.
Acetylcysteine is N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and is a popular supplement. It is also used for tylenol overdose treatment. I have used it. Purportedly it can help mitigate Glutamate (the excitable neurotransmitter) over GABA (the relaxing neurotransmitter). I couldn't really see any difference in taking it. Excess glutamate is intimately involved in RLS. With very little sleep, RLSers can get up go to work, not really be that tired, drive home and do it all again! It also, as you suggest, tames some breathing difficulties in COPD patients. Further studies say it may help with Covid and Long Covid Brain Fog. Since I am just coming off a nasty bout with Covid - I'll fire it up again! I use a longer acting supplement NAC Sustain by Jarrow.
you can bring Gabapentin into the Us, but keep it in the prescription bottle. Not sure about trebonN
Absolutely delighted you found what works for you.
