choosing an alternative to Actemra
She is now offering me three choices of alternative drugs - Mycophenolate, Azathioprine and
Leflunomide
. Reading the leaflets, they look very similar. How to decide and how to uncover the lesser known/advertised side effects?

Side effects of Leflunomide?
So he has added
Leflunomide
on top, since April 2023. It seems to be doing the trick and I haven't had any flares since but there are a couple of side effects which I wondered were common: Increase in small sebatious cysts particulalry on my face.

Does anybody take this. It is a possibility as I did not get on with methotrexate. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

perimenopause, hormones & RA flare..
currently on
Leflunomide
but is not really working, but having done 12 months on MTX which affected my MH really badly, and wiped me out, I was switched (albeit it worked for pain) I’ve akways been sensitive to hormone fluctuations and suffered with pms.. but think am now entering Peri-menopause.

Leflunomide and peripheral neuropathy
I would like to know if it's reversible (Rheumi has agreed to me stopping
leflunomide
for 6 weeks for other reasons), and if not, whether anything can be done to restore normal function. Any ideas?

HUMIRA
I've taken mtx,
leflunomide
and sulfasalzine for my RA, but none of them has worked for me. I've experienced mild side effects from all of them, excepting 20 mg of mtx which gave me bruises all over my legs (was put off it 2 months later). I am a bit nervous Humira's side effects.

Lupkinis plus MMF most effective in lupus nephritis; tacrolimus safest
It also led to a complete response rate much higher than IV cyclophosphamide alone or low-dose
leflunomide
. There were no significant differences between the treatments regarding the partial remission of kidney disease.

Leflunomide and tapering. Update on flare this Summer
The result (as well as really boosting my mood, the meetings with her are so valuable) is that I am to increase the
Leflunomide
back to 20mg once I'm fully recovered from covid.

Normal cortisol levels
This didn't work so the rheumatologist prescribed
leflunomide
which again didn't work. He wanted to put me on a biologic which I was to inject at home, the name of this began with T. The diagnosis of PMR never felt right.

mtx & leflunomide verses mtx and hydroxy
Hi one of my nurses has said I could try
leflunomide
instead of hydroxychloroquine. I wondered if many people are using
leflunomide
and if it was any good, better or worse than hydroxychloroquine ?

Highly elevated ESR and CRP but no symptoms of a flare
I'm currently on 5mg prednisolone and 20mg of
leflunomide
(for almost 3 years). I have no other health issues. I work full time and am very lucky to be able to maintain the same active level of fitness pre-PMR.

Reprise for Leflunomide
I am trying
leflunomide
again after a gap of about 9 years and lots of cancer treatment in between. Last time I got pulled off it by an officious CNS because of my spiky blood pressure. So this time I am ready for that but hoping that it will be otherwise side effect free…as before.

3rd Rheumy says I no longer have PMR but Rheumatoid Arthritis from X-rays and blood tests and prescribed Leflunomide
does this stuff work? The side effects for liver damage potential looks scary to me, someone that once was misdiagnosed with liver cancer and sent to Cleveland for transplant. Yes, fatty liver at age 59. Don’t drink or smoke. Pre diabetic/diabetic Also, does PMR segway into rheumatoid arthritis?

Leflunomide and Shingrix vaccine (non live shingles vaccine)
Hello, Has anyone on
Leflunomide
(Arava) had the shingrix vaccine and if so, did they have to stop the
leflunomide
at all before and after? Interested to hear how many different bits of advice are out there from Rheumatologists.

Leflunomide question
I have been on
Leflunomide
for over a month. No really issues. Then all the sudden when I eat I cramp in my torso like a food allergy and get the chills. Antihistamines don’t help. Probiotics either. Has anyone come across this.? Wonder why it would start now.?

Neutrophils Crash
I have been on 25mg Mtx with 5mg Prednisolone and folic acid daily - largely successfully for a couple of years. 10mg
Leflunomide
was added and since then I’ve had several issues.
