Are Coeliacs able to have a Proctography examination done when the mix they use is essentially gluten?
I have to have a Proctography examination done 2moz for a suspected Rectal Prolapse but to do this examination they mix barium with flour/oats and then place this inside your rectum...you then have to pass this mixture. I'm concerned that even though I wont be absorbing all of it, it will still kick

diverticolosis
I had a barium enema 10 years ago, & was found to have a normal bowel apart from some diverticulae. I`m not that surprised as I used to be chronically constipated until I found the correct diet. The thing that worries me is how dangerous are they, & should I press for surgery to remove them?

Problems swallowing
I've had this before, when eating or swallowing tablets (which there are many of) I feel like things are getting stuck and not going down properly. I've seen GP ages ago and was sent for a barium drink and x-ray. Tests proved clear. Symptoms did ease after a while and I had forgotten about the episode

Barium Test results not good.
A few weeks ago i posted a question about a stricture at the bottom of my stomach tube and was waiting to see my surgeon as regards the test results for the Barium Swallow that i'd recently had. Well i saw the surgeon yesterday and the news wasn't good. He said that at this time there was no cancer there

Stricture in lower stomach tube requires dilating.
After having my Barium Swallow this week i was told that i need a dilatation done in theatre. The lower bit of stomach tube that i have after the oesophagectomy and comes through the diaphram has gone so narrow that the Barium barely trickled through and showed a severe narrowing. The Radiology Consultant

Lump found in oesophageal stump.
I recently had an endoscopy because of swallowing difficulties and although no biopsies were taken a lump that takes up a quarter the size of my oesophagel stump was found and photographed. I had oesophagectomy for Achalasia back in 2004. After the endoscopy i asked the doctor about this lump as they

Coughing when eating follow up
Had my endoscopy today, and the surgeon did a stretch, but said he didn't think that was the problem and is referring me to a 'Swallow Therapist' didn't know they had them, she will watch as I have another barium swallow xray, and hopefully will come up with a solution. At least I can relax now I know

More chuckles for Lexophiles (word lovers)
I don't enjoy computer jokes. Not one bit. I changed my iPod's name to Titanic. It's syncing now. When chemists die, they barium. Jokes about German sausage are the wurst. How does Moses make his tea? Hebrews it. I stayed up all night to see where the sun went. Then it dawned on me

Janice 13 Apr 12 6:37pm
Hello all, I am new here. If I can go back to the beginning to give you a idea of how things lie, I'm hoping someone might be able to give me some advice. 30 years ago when I was 22 I used to do a job that involved driving round rural areas, farms etc delivering newspapers

Sjogrens-just how dry can your mouth get?
I've long been diagnosed with Hughes and the man himself added mild Sjogrens a few years ago. At that time I was having dry eye problems and I have artificial tears for this. For quite some time now I've been having problems with a very dry mouth and throat which sometimes leads to great difficulty just

Looking for people like me
Hi everyone I've been floating around for a while and reading the forums. I note with concern that many of you are in and out of hospital and use nebulisers every day. My asthma seems different and I was wondering if any of you have similar symptoms or any idea what could help. I'm not even sure it's

Everything fine post Oesophagectomy in 2004 but recently having swallowing problems again with reflux. A Roux-En-Y op. was mentioned.
Had the Oesophagectomy done back in 2004 for Achalasia. Then i remained generally problem free. It is only in the last 11 months that my old swallowing and reflux problems are recurring. I have had to have 2 dilatations in recent months. The surgeon mentioned my having a Roux-En-Y operation in the near
