Lactobacillus
rhamnosus GG is widely available (e.g., in Culturelle) and is one of the most studied strains. Does anyone know of other specific strains that stand out as promising for PD?

Probiotics for thrush
If so, is it better to take oral
lactobacillus
acidophilus tablets or to eat yoghurt? The pills aren't cheap but if they work better than eating yogurt i would buy them.

Interesting study on gut microbiome and cognitive function
Half the patients were given a daily 200 ml (7 fluid ounces) drink of milk containing four types of 400 billion bacteria each: three strains of the
lactobacillus
genus (acidophilus, casei, and fermentum), as well as Bifidobacterium bifidum.

Probiotics not always beneficial and may cause brain fogginess and severe bloating
This overgrowth of the bacterium
lactobacillus
was found to produce excessive levels of D-lactic acid. D-lactic acid is produced when certain bacteria break down sugars in food.

Probiotics during treatment
I read the oral pill probiotic w/ the
Lactobacillus
strain could possible help manage acute mucositis. I was wondering if anyone had “luck” w/ taking probiotics or if there’s doctors out there who have relevant info pointing to NOT taking them.

Is There a Gut–Kidney Axis?
Another study of patients on peritoneal dialysis found lower levels of Bifidobacteria,
Lactobacillus
plantarum,
Lactobacillus
casei, and Klebsiella pneumonia than in healthy matched controls (24). The metabolic potential of the gut microbiota also changes.

No growth of
Lactobacillus
and high levels of Blastocystis hominis. There is also a Lab comment which I don't understand and neither does my nutritionist, she's still trying to get in touch with Genova for an explanation, namely "3SENSI'S: All yeast, add'l bacteria".

Can Yogurt Fight Antibiotic Resistance? Lactobacillus isolate inhibits multi-drug resistant bacteria

Why Fermented Food Is so Important for Health
Nearly all organic plant matter (and even the dust covering the soil) contains lacto-fermenting bacteria called Lactobacilli, or
Lactobacillus
acidophilus. As Lactobacilli start multiplying in the fermentation process, they produce lactic acid.

It suggests that giving
Lactobacillus
and Bifidobacterium cultures to lab mice with severe infections can reduce lung inflammation and maybe other systemic inflammatory responses.
