Probiotics for thrush

I've had recurring vaginal thrush for the past few years. Doctors are useless. I've had it confirmed on various swabs that it's arare, non-albicans strain that "azole" treatments won't cure. So every time it comes back I can't use otc treatments and have to go through the hell of going to the gp, having a swab done, waiting for results etc. Long term use of Fluconazole won't prevent it because the "azoles" won't work on this strain. It flares up during and after my period for months on end. I already keep cooton underwear and good hygiene, and have been tested for diabetes which i don't have. I am considering probiotics and would love to know if anyone has used them to treat or prevent recurring thrush? If so, is it better to take oral lactobacillus acidophilus tablets or to eat yoghurt? The pills aren't cheap but if they work better than eating yogurt i would buy them.

I know this is a bit late but I’m suffering from the same thing. Swabs keep coming back with thrush. I’m on long term fluconazole treatment but it doesn’t do anything for me! The constant discharge and itch is driving me mad!! I do everything they say to do - cotton underwear, no hot baths, PH balanced shower gel...

I have started taking tablet probiotic from Holland and Barrat. Two chewable tablets a day. Ive had them for four days so far - no difference but early days!

My thrush was kick started after three types of strong antibiotics.
